Apparently that schedule/Hawkeye reveal event had around 600 max concurrent viewers? According to resetera?

Hum.

Looks like the Series X version got another patch over the weekend and the frame rate does seem more stable now. It's not a bad looking game, the voice cast do a good job and the single player stuff is good albeit short. And Ms Marvel is still fun to play. But it's not got the hook for me that it needs as a long term multiplayer game. I'll carry on with the Hawkeye stuff and drop back in as new content arrives but I've a feeling I'm going to be hopelessly under levelled for that.

Wow

Given Avengers is one of the hottest IPs in the world right now, it is incredible how quickly they lose interest in this.

An Avengers game with a big budget behind it is one of the biggest slam dunks you can get and they still managed to strawberry float it up. It's like they went out of their way to make it as unappealing as possible. Awful art design, boring lineup, the most predictable and generic voice cast possible, shite villains, GaaS etc. etc.

The difference between this and Sony's Spider-Man games or Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 3 is like night and day.

As someone who hasn't played it, I just find it fascinating for all the reasons Maf mentions. To take the world's biggest entertainment franchise, transfer it to the world's biggest entertainment medium, create what is to all extents and purpose a decent game and still end up with player counts in the hundreds is... it's an achievement.

It's not about the quality of the game at all really.

Well, it is really.
I’m not going to go through Maf’s gripes one by one as they’re mostly pretty weak - his opinion, fair enough. I just know that the people revelling in the games ‘failure’ have by and large not even played it. But again, that’s up to you.

I'm not so much as reveling as I am rubber-necking.

I'd disagree with Maf's comparison with MUA:3, mostly because that game ain't that great either.

I wonder if not having rights to the actors was an issue? It's VERY off putting to see different faces on some of the more iconic marvel heroes....

It would have helped interest for sure but the budget would have been astronomical.

At the same time, Sony's Spider-man didn't have the rights to Tom Holland and they nailed it.

I think that's because he's masked for most of it, as well as the basically all the advertising.

I’m definitely revelling in the game’s relative failure. Its release was basically a ‘worst of triple-A gaming’ collection and, like I did with Stadia showing that streaming-only gaming isn’t viable yet (or not in that avatar anyway), I’m delighted that it’s burning. (Much though I suspect that it’s the fact that the Avengers don’t resemble the movie versions that’s actually tanked the game.)

That doesn’t mean I resent people enjoying it though! It’s still good that people who’ve invested in it are getting something out of it.

MUA3's more cartoony look justifies why the characters don't resemble the movie actors. It works and nobody complained otherwise. And of course MUA3 has an extremely big cast of different characters.

It was more the fact that the game isn't that much fun to play.
