Emotion engine was the PS2, it was "cell" malarky that PS3 devs had to deal with!

Beta impressions out in the wild.

Sounding underwhelming, tbh. I’ll keep the Pre-order until after the beta to see for myself but I’ll probably end up cancelling

I was kind of excited about picking this up, maybe a month after release for £30 or so to pass the time. But the play throughs I read about earlier in the year & now the Beta make me think it’s just going to be bland & repetitive

I think I'll wait till the new consoles are out and see what stat it''s in then.

As somebody who was never going to play or be able to play this, I’m thoroughly enjoying the kerfuffle. The developers have gone full Don Mattrick and it’s glorious. Little confused as to why people are this offended over what’s been described pretty universally as a dull-looking game, but I’m not complaining!

You can play the following week without preorders on PS4. I don't have my PlayStation anymore so I've had to accept my fate as subhuman customer scum and pre order the Xbox version to play the beta next week

I’ve placed a pre-order for this on Base in order to get a early access beta code, anyone know how long it should take to get the code? Anyone got one yet?

Got a PS4 beta (also comes with the DLC unlocks as well) so will be trying this out tonight

Played through the first mission via the beta and it’s......alright? It just feels like a solid third person action game. Each Avenger has their own move list as you would expect but they don’t really feel massively different.

I’ll stick more time into it over the next few weekends but first impressions are that I like it but it’s nothing amazing. I am more than happy to wait on a price drop.

I do wonder had they not looked to make this a GaaS and focused on a single player experience could it have been something more? Right now it’s just fight a group of baddies, QTE, fight a bunch of baddies, cut scene......hopefully it varies things up as it goes along.

Because it looks utterly pedestrian.

Been playing the beta tonight and I’m impressed. The biggest thing that I’d say is that the I-haven’t-played-it-but-I-have-a-relentless-opinion mob are wrong. Each character does feel uniquely different. Enormously so? Well Iron Man sure as hell doesn’t play like Hulk. And Captain America doesn’t play much like Thor. And Black Widow doesn’t play like Iron Man. You get the drift. This does mean that when they add new characters, the gameplay is gonna sort of change again, to the point where eventually you’re going to have perhaps 10-12 characters that all feel different to play. Now, as a game that’s considered a GaaS (despite it not being out yet) that’s pretty cool.
The dialogue is uneven, and the character models could be better. This is not me saying ‘it’s not MCU therefore it’s gooseberry fool’...some of the writing is sharp, some not. After playing the Tomb Raider games, and seeing the quality of the character models and general graphics in those, Avengers is arguably a step down despite the same studio/s having a hand in it. Deus Ex games too..seeing those, you’d expect similar results from them all. And I still hate Captain America’s suit.

I had a look at a stream and think it looks fun. I know we've hasn't Spideman which was good so this not being [i][exactly/i] like that means it is the worst game ever made. Hopefully there will be some decent story stuff but it's fun beating up bad games as the Avengers, I'll be happy.
