It doesn't look like absolute generic shite, it's a fun brawler and actually has personality. Reviewed better too if that matters.

It would have helped interest for sure but the budget would have been astronomical.

At the same time, Sony's Spider-man didn't have the rights to Tom Holland and they nailed it.

I think that's because he's masked for most of it, as well as the basically all the advertising.

Most of the main character's faces in Spider-Man were based on actual people. There is actually lengthy parts where he is unmasked and I'm not sure what advertising has to do with anything?

I'm not reveling in it's failure but I'd wager that Outriders would not be hitting Gamepass at launch if this was a success. :shifty:

I'm sure a lot of people presumed Tom Holland was Peter Parker in the game, I could be wrong.

You can play this in single player, right? I'm really tempted to give it a go but I'll wait until it's sub £20.

You can and the single player story is pretty decent. The post ending stuff though is a chore in single player because the AI companions are dumb as rocks.

Single player was fine with some padding as they introduced endgame grind activities. You can certainly have a fair few hours fun for that price.

Finally started the campaign on this and it’s pretty good so far, wish the gear wasn’t a part of it as it seems silly equipping stuff you can’t actually physically see on your character. Story wise though it’s good and I’m looking forward to seeing where they go with it.

I believe that, by most accounts, the campaign mode is thoroughly entertaining, IM! It'll be good to hear how you get on with it.

The fact this gets patched weekly, and they can be fairly big, is a bit of an annoyance. The last 2 were like 35gig combined yet I can’t really see what they’ve added.
They’re going to add a ‘play as duplicate heroes’ patch soon I believe. Which is nice.

Everything in the multiplayer section of the game has to be played online? Nothing in that part you can do solo offline?

Correct, but you can just turn matchmaking off I suppose. You’ll really want decent backup though, the AI controlling the other 3 Avengers is a bit hit and miss, literally.

Tbh I’m not overly fussed on playing the post game stuff, I’m more interested in the story content, I’ll see how I feel once I beat the main story and the 2 Hawkeye episodes

I’m close to the end of the story on this I think, I currently have to obtain parts for Starktech suits but I’m not overly sure where I need to get them from?

Overall the games been ok, I like the story but all the crap with gear and stuff is just annoying, I end up just going into the menu every so often and hitting L2 so it just equips the best stuff. Seems rather pointless and I wish they would have kept that stuff out of the story mode.

I've looked at the game so many times and come so close to purchasing it during sales... but each time I just about held off. By most accounts the single-player campaign seems kinda decent but the on-going play seemingly sounds a bit grindy and unrewarding?

Of course, big games can be improved over time - hello, Final Fantasy XIV, No Mans' Sky, Fallout 76 and others! - so I wonder if Avengers will? Is it "too big to fail"?

The story is decent but I’m not a fan of all the stuff they have thrown in like the gear systems etc...

Personally, I can see this being a PSplus game at some point so I would wait until then to play it if you have a sub.

Thanks, IM - I'll be holding off for now.
