Spider-Man solo games weren't PS4 only in the XBox 360 era, there were a boatload of slightly shoddy Spidey games that were multi-platform, but the 2018 Spider-Man game was made second party and whatever deal was struck to make that happen seems to have tied him down to Sony for some time.

Because Sony licensed the character from Marvel and funded the game. I don't believe the details of that deal are public though so we don't know what that means in terms of exclusivity.

I bought the first one from a French hypermarket not realising there was no language select. I had no idea what was happening in that game.

I wonder if that was part of the new deal to keep spiderman in the MCU. I remember the GameCube Spiderman game fondly. That was awesome.

The rumour thread re Sony money hatting an otherwise multi-platform game for PS5 will have had many primed to lose their gooseberry fool.

Thing is, this is only the beginning of Sony pushing for more exclusives/exclusive content again as we move towards the PS5 launch.
