From the sounds of it, the game would've worked so much better as a single player only game, with a longer campaign, as I've heard it's only 10 hours long.
Was tempted to get it, but will wait til it drops under £30

I've seen a few video reviews. The charges for extra skins looks insane and Spiderman has kind of conditioned me that new outfits and stuff are really nice functions of the normal game. I probably would have spent much less time in Spiderman if the costumes were paid content.

It's like the opposite of Fallen Order. That game had all the costumes free, but they were all gooseberry fool. This game can really mix it up and probably has some cool looking skins but I'm not going to pay extra for them.

Gamecentral weren't fans.

In Short: A jumbled mess that’s trying to be at least three different types of game at once, drowning out the enjoyable combat with a tsunami of repetition and meaningless loot.

Pros: The combat system is good, with just the right amount of variety between heroes and their expansive skill trees. Kamala is great and deserves her own game.

Cons: Insanely repetitive, with the worst loot system this side of Anthem. Unengaging plot and unambitious takes on the movie heroes and their world. No supervillains of note and lots of bugs. Score: 5/10

That score matches my feelings on what I played in the beta. Only 3 supervillains in the entire game, dear me.

I'm actually really enjoying the campaign for the most part - nice story, characters and set pieces - but then it dumps you into what's clearer an "endgame" style mission and the wheels fall off.

If you do the side quests you start picking up the ‘ingredients’ pretty quickly. Besides the point, I suppose.
Loving how different Cap feels in comparison to the rest, but a lot of his mad skills are based on defence and countering, which is a...less patient way of playing :shifty:

This game has died already.

Yesterday a Forbes report highlighted SteamCharts numbers suggesting the game's PC audience had slumped to between 1000-2000 people a month after launch - low enough for the game to begin experiencing matchmaking issues.

I'd have guessed the main audience for this would be on console and not PC, but sounds like that audience has dropped too

I'm not sure why... but I really want to try this game. The graphics look decent and the action seems fun on the vids that I've watched. Definitely not gonna pay anywhere near the current £60 PS Store price, though. Would maybe bite at £20 or £25.

Dev themselves say they hope to get gamers to come back on all systems but ok.

I’m still finding matches fairly easily but it’s rare that you’ll fill your 4-player strike team. Quite a lot of players are really quite high level so trying to level up a low-powered hero can be a bit of a ball ache for others, probably.
It’s ‘fairly’ easy but I’m not sure if it’s down to the matchmaking, or dwindling players. Not being able to join a mission in progress is...well I reckon it’s a huge issue for people wanting to hop on and start playing with a full squad. The AI bot/s they use to fill empty slots are by and large useless, so I don’t see the logic.
I like playing the game for a couple of hours every few days, flitting between all the characters to keep it fresh, but they need content and they need it fairly urgently.

I've been holding off getting this hoping it would drop in price quite quickly as i couldn't justify it at full price, with everything delayed/so many fixes being implemented I can't help but feel like I made the right choice, hoping the game doesn't die off massively. Fingers crossed a sale nearer christmas will boost the numbers substantially. If it drops sub £30 on Xbox I'll pick it up for sure.

They REALLY dropped the ball with this, they should have focused on a single player story experience rather than trying to build a GaaS.

I wonder how this will effect the rumoured Square Guardians of the Galaxy game?

I’ve pumped a few dozen hours into this, and you know what, it’s a good game to play for a couple of hours if you want to turn your brain off. Is it possibly the buggiest, glitchiest high profile launch I can remember in recent history though? Oh god yes.
The loot grind is not completely terrible, but the ‘exotic gear’ you get doing the end-endgame stuff is by and large meh as all hell, defeating the entire point. I would also say that the content is...well there’s not a huge dearth of it, but it’s just not that interesting. Capturing nodes, defending an area, stuff like that.
I reckon it’s worth playing now purely for the campaign and for some MP. I imagine if you don’t play it as heavily as I did, it would be more fun that way.
