Speaking of which, we had our first game of pandemic in ages last weekend. We've won a fair few games now so decided to up the difficulty by putting more epidemic cards in play. We got our arses absolutely kicked by the game :lol: The board was just swamped with pieces in the end, and we lost by running out of player cards.

I played Pandemic Rapid Response the other night. A great dice-based variant of the game worth a go for Pandemic veterans.

Anyone played much 7th Continent?

Had a go yesterday and while I really liked it - it seemed really punishing.

We could not find the second cog anywhere (I think we missed something in rules on a "may" change card number and made it mandatory) and failed to get off 2nd Island and back to start.

Seemed odd that your personal "deck" has so many interesting cards you can't use until you level up.


Still really liked the idea and looking forward to trying again

Pandemic Legacy 1 : Sepetember


Another solid game of this - the mechanics are still just complex eneough to keep you costantly on toes.


We lost our first game in September, but completed the new objective added that month...so the second game took some turns (MASSIVE SPOILERS)


We've been played! We've been helping paramiltary take over the world!

And Private Dancer - our most powerful and best punned character - is a traitor! We had to tear him up :(

Why our funding keeps getting cut makes perfect in game story sense!

Some new "show" (not discard) cards arrived and we've tooled up with C4. We're not fighting diseases and the man...and it's great.

We knew we were failing September early, so rushed to ensure we'd completed all outstanding searches...but that meant Red...the disease we'd most had under control...is now largely faded cities. Epp.


We only have the 3 objectives (for now), Cure 3 diseases, quantrine 7 cities and blow up 2 bases...but even so September late was still pretty gosh darn close

Pandemic Legacy Season 1 : October

Early October was a disaster. We drew alot of CoDa to start with and then Epidemiced on player turn 1.

The new search this time was really hard. So few bonus to searching as City Zero didn't have a military base


Late October went a lot better. 

We tooled up with some binoculars and got far more of the needed cards drawn. We also took the Ops specialist to build a military base in City Zero having ignored him since the betrayal/reveal. But the bonus to the search was too strong. We'd planned to sacrifice him a lot (possibly killing) after he'd built the one base...

Patient Zero was found....and that completed all our overarching objectives! We opened Box 7 and the game changed again. Changing mid game always leaves you to struggle to catch up - especially when objectives change so much. We got here in the first month it was possible, and it feels like we can really control the game now for Nov/Dec (I'm a little worried they might become too easy if we vaccinate loads?)

We've now unlocked all the dossiers/rulebooks...only the deck will change things. And we can start the fight back against CoDa. Luckily we brought the Ops specialist (who was no longer a certain-to-be-sacrificed as we quickly built up vaccine factories (and made 2 starting ones at game end) AND started immunizing cities...and took a gentle route to a win. We've also started sacrificing people to skip some nasty Infect stages.


Having seen (we think) all the games major tricks now I remain incredibly impressed with the package. It's really evolved over time and the feeling of a "persistent" world that effects future games is really strong.

Had another issue that the Box was meant to contain (being vague) parts A and B - but we have 2 As. Was easy to work out what B should have been, and look up how many - but a little annoying

Rule question (Spoiler for October's Search completed/Box 7 open) if anyone knows/remembers

Coda is Black for us.

If we vaccinate a black city, no faded are placed there if we need to infect it. (And faded can't outbreak in from adjacent cities, other disease colors can )

If we have a faded city (say red) that we vaccinate - does it produce a) nothing or b) red cubes now if drawn from the infection deck?


Loving this...shame I'm told Season 2 isn't as good

Fairly standard, solid Euro game. But we played 2v2 which was really good and not something I'd seen before. The lack of communication should be enforced - and that the impact of each team member doing what the active player chooses elevated a good euro game to a very good afternoon of fun.

Played this last week for the first time. It's in my boardgame fanatic friend's top ten for some reason. I enjoyed it, but wasn't particularly enamoured with it the way he is.

As a base game it's fine. Nothing amazing but very solid.

But 2v2 made it do something a bit different.

Red Player 1 picks a card. Red Player 1 and Red Player 2 do that action
Blue Player 1 picks a card. Blue Player 1 and Blue Player 2 do that action
Red Player 2 picks a card. Red Player 2 and Red Player 1 do that action
Blue Player 2 picks a card. Blue Player 1 and Blue Player 1 do that action
Red Player 1 picks a card. Red Player 1 and Red Player 2 do that action
And so on

Without being able to conspire/communicate was great fun. Luckily teamate and I were pretty alligned in thinking and teed up a couple of devastating combos...
But I also screwed a couple a times by doing actions he couldn't actually do :oops:

I love Concordia, but the scoring is a bit difficult to get to grips with whilst learning game 1. Love the replayability angle too which puts it one up on Power Grid for me.

My girlfriend bought me Flamme Rouge for my birthday after we played it at a board game cafe and I really enjoyed it. I find the strategy of knowing when to make a break really interesting and each time we've played it the result has been close which is nice as it keeps things competitive and keeps everyone interested.

I've also got Flash Point coming soon which I've heard good things about but haven't yet played myself.

Finally my group have finally reached the half way point of our Charterstone game having played 6 of the 12 rounds. As a first legacy game I'm finding it interesting. I find the changes each round and introduction of new elements keeps things fresh. Intriguing to see how the latter rounds develop and to see who might win as it's very difficult at the moment to establish who might be leading overall.

Anyone else buying the Marvel Champions LCG? It's out this Friday, and has been getting some great reviews. Mechanically similar to the Arkham Horror and LOTR LCGs, with some unique twists. I'm really looking forward to it.
