Printed Bargain Basement Bathysphere this morning and I'm really looking forward to giving it a go over the weekend. My gaming group is basically dead now so it'll feel good just to roll some dice by myself.

Everyone download and print Bargain Basement Bathysphere!

It's a solo roll and write and it's so good!!!

Just spent a couple of hours playing all the introductory scenarios and I've had so much fun. Reached the ocean floor and survived the trip back to the surface in the first two games but my bathysphere blew up in my third game and the final game was a write off. I got cocky, dove too deep and my bathysphere exploded while I was still at the bottom of the ocean.

The next level is introducing some legacy style mechanics so the stakes are going to be high. I want to reach the bottom of the ocean for those sweet points but I also need to collect fish and octopi for my aquarium so I'm really going to have to weigh up the risk/reward of diving deeper so I can have a hope in hell of surfacing with a decent haul.

It's so good. I'm definitely going to try out some more of the free solo print and play games that SU&SD recommended recently.

Gloomhaven is currently £75 on Amazon, that seems like a bargain.

Ok folks, I can buy one board game during this Black Friday event and both Wingspan and Jaws of the Lion are available on Zatu for about the same price - which would you choose?

It has to come down to personal preference, tbh. I have Jaws of the Lion and really like it. Wingspan looks pretty cool too, but I can play JOTL solo and I'd struggle to get anyone to play Wingspan with me, so I'm unlikely to buy it. I might get the digital version though.

JOTL really interests me but I'm conscious that I've got a couple of big box RPG games in the cupboard that rarely see the light of day (Stuffed Fables and Castle Ravenloft) so I'm wondering if I'm just adding another to that list. I think what draws me into these things is a love for those PC game boxes of times past with big manuals and lots of tables (Baldurs Gate  ) and so something like JOTL chimes with that. Wingspan though looks lovely and might be something I can draw the wider family in to.

Colt Express
The Crew
Scythe
King's Dilemma
Root Expansion
Carcassone Expansion

My friends and family have it so good.

Played Pandemic for the first time tonight with my wife and 2 friends. Very much enjoyed it but we failed both games we played. First attempt we spent too long sorting out diseases and not enough time attempting to cure it. We were much on the ball second time right and it felt like we were playing it well but we basically came needed a couple more turns.

With the tight time limit, it feels like there is a big difference in quality of roles and to beat it you really need a scientist and a dispatcher.

Played King's Dilemma last weekend. Such a great game to make you feel like a member of the King's small council

Got Cascadia for Christmas and it's quickly become a firm favourite of mine.

As puzzle-y as Calico but more open, allowing you get out of an unlucky bind most of the time but will still punish you if you don't plan ahead. Plus it doesn't have a dickhead cat that can only lay down in a massive straight line. Leo :x

I want both of these games.

We bought three of the Exit games. Two down now and they're wonderfully creative and great fun.

Went to Ludorati in Nottingham today and my wife beat me 4:1. I started out well enough, winning a game of Photosynthesis but she ruined me at Tokaido, twice at Fungi and finally at Air, Land and Sea.

Spotted Curious Cargo on sale as I was leaving and, remembering SU&SD's Matt Lees raving about it, bought it as an impulse treat. Looking forward to playing it soon

Counted up my collection today and I am at 177 board games.

I'm lucky if I get to play one game a week. :fp:

Wow! I take it you'll be hosting a GR board games night then? ;) :simper:

Tried Curious Cargo this afternoon and we both enjoyed it. I can definitely feel that post-game itch in my brain, my mind trying to build a strategy for next time. Something just incredibly satisfying about seeing goods sliding along your conveyor belts into tactically placed trucks. Can't wait to play it again.

I have a room which has lots of open shelves which I store them on. Normally there is enough room for them all, but its started to overflow over lockdown. Need to move some on.
