Anyone been playing many games over lockdown?

My wife and I have been playing a really good mix of 2 player stuff. Lots of co-op games like Consulting Detective and Mansions of Madness as well as competitive stuff like 7 Wonders Duel and Patchwork.

I don't know what it is about Patchwork but I just can't get my head around the puzzle. My wife destroys me every, single, time. I love it though, it's such a fun game but somehow I'm always 20 points behind

My group are still doing our weekly board game night but have been playing on boardgamearena instead. It's pretty decent actually and it's meant we've learnt a few new games too which is always a bonus!

That reminds me that I tired to arrange a game on Tabletop Simulator that never happened. For some reason I feel uncomfortable playing online anyway. Something about talking over headsets makes me feel less at ease than face to face. And I like to touch physical things on a table.

Oh yeah, I’d much prefer to be playing in person like we used to but this has been a decent way of getting through lockdown at least!

Anyone played Disney Villainous? I've been looking at it online and it looks like I'd get some enjoyment out of it but my concern is that it wouldn't have much longevity.

My wife and I have played a lot of the base game just between the two of us and really enjoy it. We've played it quite regularly through lockdown and bought an expansion pack and the recently released Marvel version as well.

The base game has six different villains so there's a good amount of variety to keep you engaged. We bought the expansion mainly for the Evil Queen character and how much we enjoyed the game as opposed to a lack of longevity.

Hmm, that's very promising. My wife and I have been playing a lot of 2 player games in lockdown and I felt like treating myself to something. There's probably a lot better games on my wishlist but the theme of this game has just caught my eye.

A friend of mine has it and raves about it.

Someone in my group picked it up and we played it twice I think and it's not been touched since.

I can't remember why we didn't like it either unfortunately.

I busted out my copy of Heroquest I bought 99% complete from a charity shop a few years ago for a fiver!

I've been GM-ing my own adventures for my boys (7 and 12) and they've loved it.

I picked up Imperial Struggle the other week, a quasi-sequel/prequel to Twilight Struggle.
Lots of pieces and seems a bit complicated. Need to have several reads of these rules

Twilight Struggle is still one of my absolute favourites but it's far too dry for my wife. We've played it together twice but it looks like I'll be sticking to the digital version.

Would love to play Imperial Struggle it's a bit steep at £58 for me.

My girlfriend and I have been playing a lot of Wingspan. The artwork is really great and the game is pretty enjoyable as well.

Also played a 3 player game of Cyclades over the weekend and that was really enjoyable. Well worth playing if you like strategy games.

We were due to start pandemic legacy in March, but for obvious reasons we never really felt starting that.

Pandemic Legacy 0 is out next month. I'm in two minds about picking it up. It looks amazing but I may have already played enough Pandemic to last a lifetime.

I think most people started playing it in March.

Bought Gloomhaven : Jaws of the Lion this week. Really enjoying it, but have just been playing solo. Unfortunately the wife and kids are interesting in board games. There's quite a lot of setup, but having the maps in a wiro-bound book is very clever and saves having to build it from tiles.

I ended up getting the digital version of Gloomhaven on Steam tonight. It's still in early access, and they've still to add a lot of content, but its shaping up well.

I completed the full game of Gloomhaven and loved it but I had to play through that on my own. I did the vast majority of it during the beginning of lock down and just left it set up so I could get through it as quick as possible but I did really enjoy it.

I've always been tempted by Gloomhaven but it's too big of a price tag, especially if my wife ended up not liking it.
