Most people will tell you S1 is the best board game ever. And those same people will tell you to go in with low expectations for S2.

S2 is okay, but it isn't in the same league as S1.

I really need to get hold of S0 at some point though. Although I have Risk Legacy and King's Dilemma to do which are both legacy already!

Picked up the Goonies adventure game a few weeks ago and still haven’t played it. It’s a DM-based game with scenarios that take you through the plot of the movie. You can play as Mikey, Data, Mouth, Chunk or Sloth and it’s quite well put together.

Serious question but would anyone be interested in a board game Saturday or weekend some time? I live in Leicester but I don't have a gaming group anymore so I'd be willing to travel a few hours if it meant I had a chance to enjoy a day or two of games with like minded individuals.

Picked up this pretty cool looking journal at an English Heritage site today and I'll be using it in future for my games of One Thousand Year Old Vampire

If anyone wants to play a really good game on the cheap check out the rules for Regicide. It uses a regular 52 pack of cards plus two jokers to make a 1-4 player co-op game about trying to take down the progressively tougher face cards using four powers tied to the suits.

Plays really well with two people and gets really difficult once you get to the kings.

Played a few games of this yesterday. Was good fun, helped when we'd worked out when we needed to play card types and eventually beat all the kings. Helped a lot having the app assistant although was a bit tricky trying to keep to the order of everything

Managed to get a physical copy of Thousand Year Old Vampire that should be arriving tomorrow and I'm so excited.

Today I've got my hands on Caesar! and Under Falling Skies.

Just played my introductory game of Under Falling Skies and it was superb. Really simple to learn but a great level of both tactical and strategic considerations. X-COM lite is probably a good summary of what this solo game is like.

Can't wait to play more with the full rules and I'm intrigued to see how the campaign mode works.

Really excellent first impression and I'd instantly recommend it to anyone looking for something to play solo.

Under Falling Skies is great, I really need to get back to my campaign of that.

The basic game is available as a free print and play as well if you have enough dice and cubes/tokens from other games.

Bought a few more games for the Bank Holiday weekend using an Amazon gift card I was randomly given: Flamme Rouge, Air, Land, & Sea, and Lost Cities.

Flamme Rouge is great fun and we’re already both part way through a Grand Tour and immediately starting to think of house rules that might give it a bit of a twist. Or break it I dunno, I’m not a game designer. The only thing we're struggling with is a good solution to adding bots when we don't have the Peloton expansion.

Air, Land, & Sea I gave a game and it seems alright but I am a child and I only start really enjoying a game when I win. Lost Cities we still need to open.

Flamme Rouge is a good laugh. I'm not particularly good at it as I nearly always wait too long and then cannot respond to a well timed sprint for the line. Lost Cities is a personal favourite though and one of my top 2 player games along with 7 Wonders Duel and Jaipur.

I caught up with a friend over the bank holiday weekend and we played a number of games including Fantastic Factories, Honey Buzz, The Crew, So Clover, Roam, Floriferous, Canvas, Fantasy Realms, Trails of Tucana & Isle of Cats. Of the games I hadn't played before I liked Canvas and Floriferous in particular. Both had beautiful artwork and were nice, quick, fairly simple games with pleasant themes.

Advanced Heroquest was amazing. The hours I used to spend staying up late with mates dungeon crawling in my youth. Probably my best boardgaming memories. *sniff*

Started Risk Legacy last weekend. It plays much faster than regular risk as you start with territories without troops, and the objectives are reasonably quick to achieve but not hidden. You can probably play three games in the time a normal game would take.

Although I still enjoy a full map LotR Risk epic.

Conversely, my group is bouncing off of Root. It is a shame, but I am learning that my group don't like asymmetric strategy games or games with some info not fully understood or equally fair. Explains why Cosmic Encounter doesnt work with them either. A bit of a shame, but understandable.

I think overall I prefer Warhammer Quest. My father used to GM that back in the 90s for me and my friends and the adventures he wrote were always brilliant.

But trying to find a complete boxes copy of the original is not cheap. I got a complete Heroquest in a charity shop for a fiver about 10 years ago and play or with my kids.
