I'll take it if nobody else wants it - I cancelled gamepass and that was how I was playing it before.

Is it in some bundle?

In the current Humble Bundle along with Prodeus, Turbo Overkill and a few others. Definitely recommend picking it up.

Good question. I had just assumed Discord as usual but we can play it by ear and use the party chat on Xbox if we have to.

Does Xbox chat work on cloud?

If possible I'd prefer discord as I won't be playing on an Xbox, I'll be on PC. That said I could probably wrangle my way into an Xbox party chat via the Xbox app on pc, it's all very clunky on there!

I'll try discord, will probably move the xbox upstairs and have that on speakers with discord on my phone.

That's bizarre that's it's not working for you. When I tried the cloud version it just asked me to login to the 360 version of XBL and then pulled down my profile and even my save games. It was seamless.
I did already own the game both on XBLA and as part of Rare Replay but I don't see why that should matter for the gamepass version.

What are you trying to play on?

I've tried via web browser, Xbox app on Windows and the Xbox app on my Smart TV and they all have the same problem - gets into the game menu, attempts to login to my profile and then just bails with a "Sorry, there's a problem with the credentials that you're using to sign in" message - but I know the credentials are correct as they are the very same ones I'm logged in to the cloud with!

Very frustrating but looks like I'm going to have to miss out on the PD fun tonight

Sorry to hear that man. Was having a nightmare myself getting my Series X hooked up the way I wanted. So I've got the 360 up and running for the first time in a long while.

I'm in game now if anyone want's to jump in the discord and we'll see if we can work this out.
EDIT: Have your gamertag as I think I need to add you in the "old" XBLA network as a friend if I didn't already have you back then.

Finally managed to get it to log in, but the lag and screen artefacts are just awful so I think it's going to be unplayable via the cloud for me.

Will see if I can look out my 360 and get that setup

Wheras I couldn't log in because I have, since the 360 days, changed my MS password to something longer than 16 characters.

Guess what the maximum number of characters you can enter for your password on the 360 is. :fp:

Turns out my 360 which I haven't used in ~15 years still works and has been sat waiting all this time for me to turn it back on so I can finish watching Despicable Me:

Now to see if I can actually get it to plays some games again...

Strangely enough I ended up playing on my 360 as well. Was a bit of an odd experience actually.

But had some good games with Victor and Cumberdanes. Definitely hope we can get more of you in with us next week. Feel like we barely scratched the surface of the modes and maps.

Thanks for the games. And yes it felt like it was on the verge of getting going, just needed a few more real people in there so we didn't endlessly get upstaged by cheat-a-bot.

So half-way through our little "console season" and I must say I have been a bit surprised at how un-straightforward our games on Xbox have been so far. :?

Players not showing up on friends lists, not being able to see game invites, discord not playing nice, passwords being too long for the system, cloud just not wanting to work.
Yeah get a console it "just works"

I'm actually looking forward to having to manually set up a server again. Would be less hassle.

With that in mind I'm beginning to think about what we're moving onto after Halo 2. I'm definitely leaning towards something a bit more mid-90's PC in feel so probably one of the other Build engine games, maybe something else.

Might pull something a bit obscure out and see how we get on.

I think so. It's a 2000's game (Literally 2000 it came out) so a bit sooner than I'm looking for now, but I'll add it to the slate to get to at some point.

Blood and Shadow Warrior would probably be the logical Build engine games to look at, I don't think I ever played multiplayer in either of them though. Of course, there's always the work of genius that is William Shatner's TekWar to consider! :slol:

Also, I finally managed to get around to properly watching your stream of my Doom II level Devlin, thanks again for playing it and sharing! Thoughts below:

Random thoughts whilst watching your playthrough:

* Map lines - I need to look into how these get hidden for secret areas, a couple of times you brought up the map I could see some lines from secret areas had been revealed which might be a giveaway

* Loved that you kept saving before going in the dark maze, clearly PTSD from an earlier run!

* I think I need to up the difficulty for Ultra Violence, it feels a bit too pedestrian in one or two areas.

* I'm still not happy with some areas like the poison room where it's just a windy path with some imps slowly firing at you, feels a bit weak. Might look at reworking the space or sticking some stuff on the path to make it more likely the player gets pushed into the poison...

* The path that you can get to by dropping into the poison area in the imp room does lead to a secret, follow the lights...

* Spotted a few miscellaneous texture issues that I'll to take another pass on tidying up

* Lines of sight in the "server room" maze - need to rethink monster placement - too easy to see some enemies via diagonals which makes it a tiny bit too easy I think.

* Regarding your comment of the level reminding you of things in real Doom - yes that's what I was going for! Trying to riff on existing concepts but without coming across as wholesale plagiarism! Felt like a good way to get into the swing of things before hopefully pivoting more toward something fresher. Plus, Doom and Doom II got so much right off the bat that who am I to argue with it!

* UDM is great - I genuinely hadn't touched Doom mapping in 25 years before making this level and it came together really quickly. Would love to see more people getting into it!

* The route to the blue key after the server room seems to kick off infighting between the Hell Knight and imps too easily, might need to rethink placement/layout.

* Regarding the availability of weapons in the map - I might think about rethinking where the pickups are. You can get the chaingun relatively early but its in a secret area. Originally this started out as a simpler "MAP 01" type thing so I was trying to limit the player to mainly pistol and shotgun, but as the design has evolved I think I might need to be a bit more generous with the arsenal! (and then I can add some even bigger enemies to the higher difficulty as well... )

* Getting toward the back sections of the run now and my overall thought remains in that I think it's all too pedestrian at times. The lost souls don't achieve what I wanted in that poison room, feel like I haven't worked out how to make the best use of them yet.

* Outside areas that you can see from a couple of rooms - player should probably be able to get out there, otherwise it's just a tease!

* I think I'm going to need to release more monsters as the player goes back through some places (maybe mostly in UV...) to make the back tracking more interesting. There's a couple of places I do this at the moment but I think the balance probably needs to shift a bit more toward keeping the player on their toes.

* Judging from the results screen I think I might have messed up the secret sectors. There were 2 secrets I think you missed.

* Also regarding that results screen - I don't know how you set the par time! 30 seconds is inherited from the OG Doom II opening map

Regarding your comment on Doom mapping as a contest - I think you're right in that it might be hard to get the numbers, but a map jam could definitely work well. Would be amazing to get something going where we can get some in the community involved in creating maps. :toot:

Thanks again for playing, if anyone else wants to give the level a shot and give me any feedback then let me know.

I'm going to work on tidying it up a bit more and then either release it to the Doom community as a standalone level or potentially start building it into a full episode!

Spent some more time on my Doom WAD last night, think I've had more fun creating Doom levels recently than I have actually playing any games!

Spent a bit of time trying to get my 360 setup for some Perfect Dark action later. In my head the 360 is still a modern system but I forgot just how "on the cusp" of things it was that makes gooseberry fool just that little bit harder than it should be: no HDMI output so it's hard to get it connected to any of the TVs or monitors that I use now, no built in WiFi so I need to work out a way to get ethernet into it etc.

Also I know it was always a bit of a loud machine, but strawberry float me time has not been kind to the fans on my unit - it makes an absolute gooseberry fool load of noise now! Might have to keep myself muted on Discord if I do get it working
