Just fiddling with the control setup now. This is going to take some getting used to I think!

This was a really fun one! I'd love to play again next week but I've just remembered I've got Ed Gamble tickets!

Why do I keep organising things on a wednesday?!

Yeah that was fun last night.
Sorry I had to bail a bit earlier than usual but I enjoyed that.

I'll look into more DM focused maps as some of them were a bit too mazey.

Nice.

Will be interesting to see how that affects things.

How much tinkering was needed for this in the end? I'm starting from zero and I'm going to training tonight before coming on here so if it's a huge mission to join you for fifteen minutes of MP I might give it a miss this week!

You'll probably want to remap some of the controls and mouse sensitivity settings to your liking, but it was pretty straightforward beyond that

Installation is a piece of cake, nothing tricky at all.
Control mapping is probably going to be your biggest time cost.
Can't remember how long we spent last week just talking about setting up the controls. :fp:

I'm a fussy controls guy so every match I was changing something. Think I'm happy now though!

I was pretty happy with my setup from the start in all honesty - it was more a case of getting used to the different feel of piloting a ship to our usual fare, once that clicked I felt like I had a good handle on it!

Shared a slightly tweaked version of my Doom II map on the Doomworld forums and got some nice feedback from the folks over there which was cool: https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/1 ... om-ii-map/

A few people shared videos of their playthroughs which was really interesting to watch as well, always great to see someone else tackle one of your creations and get a feel for all of the ways they can approach it differently to how you expected!

Our Descent into madness has ended.

Great fun. Looking forward to Descent II and potentially even Forsaken at some point!

Thanks to everyone who could make it as always. Sorry Victor wasn't able to join us but we'll definitely get you on the next one.

Something a bit more traditional for next week.
Quake III style shenanigans on the Holodeck in Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force!

EDIT: Oh and unrelated but Polygon published this article a few days back that just made me think of our Wednesday night games.

Gamer Night™ :datass:

Really enjoyed Descent again tonight, definitely a bit quirky and some of the maps lend themselves to multiplayer better than others but it was always fun. Looking forward to tackling Descent 2 and Forsaken at some point!

Also I took a look that "spiritual sequel" mentioned tonight, Overload: https://store.steampowered.com/app/448850/Overload/

Looks like it could be quite a fun modern interpretation of the formula

Just followed that link and apparently I got Overload in 2020.
What did I say about having a stupidly large steam library earlier tonight?
