Ended up having a great time, so it would be nice to get some more people. I do need to figure out how to get a map rotation working, but there is a lobby system that's functional.

So if everyone is up for it I'd like to propose a mid-week game, say Wednesday night at 8? Would do this weekend but got stuff that means I can't guarantee I'll be about.

Either way if anyone is ever up for a random game just shout in the thread and I'll jump on if I'm free.

Yeah was a lot of fun to get some classic Quake action on the go. :toot:

Definitely up for more if we can get a nice little group going

That's cool man.

How are you playing it? One of the console ports or over PC?

Duke 3D always kind of passed me by. I've played it a bunch over the years but I just never really got on with the build engine.

Still a classic though. I've been messing about with the eDuke32 source port a bit and it's really simple. Works with all the expansions and community levels too.

Duke 3D is one of those games that I've bought on nearly every console. Absolutely love it to pieces.

Hail to the king, baby :datass:

Don't know yet, but as I have the original atomic edition CDs for it from back in the day, I'll probably rip those and share the files out and then duke work it out from there.

The 3 of us were massively in to the game back in the day, used to play it so much together huddled around one pc so I can't wait to play it with them and talk gooseberry fool.

Shake it baby!

I found this that might help getting Duke going online.

https://nukemnet.com/

Seems easy enough to set up but I've not tried it myself.

I never really played Duke in multiplayer, it was always more of a solo game for me. Spent quite a lot of time dicking about with Build editors to try and make levels as well - the engine had some really cool capabilities but I don't think I ever managed to make anything of value with it!

Nice one thanks, it all looks a bit mental to me but then I've not done anything pc based for ages. I'm sure the other tech savvy guys will have it going no problem.

I think the toughest part is making sure you've got the right ports forwarded and I always hate having to mess about in my router settings.
All you need to do once that's done is point the utility at your game .exe (You can use the Atomic Edition GOG Dos version as well as a couple of source ports) and set up the room. I assume whoever creates the room is the host.

I'm in Belfast this week so I won't be in for this. Also don't own Quake Remastered so that might be an issue!

Off the top of my head I have all the HL games, Jedi Knight, Jedi Outcast on Steam, and Elite Force 1 using the site I posted yesterday ready to go (assuming EF Holomatch works okay). I have disc versions of Q2, Q3A, Unreal and UT99 in the loft so assuming they haven't decayed and will run on W10 I'm up for them too. I also have C&C Renegade on EA Play if I'm
I'm not the only one :shifty:

Have Epic completely killed Unreal in favour of Fortnite? strawberry floating Philistines if so - might make playing this series difficult.

Also if Wednesdays are the regular day this is on I'll be available 9:30 at the earliest - my wife has to work on Wednesday evenings so I usually put my son to bed that night. I would really love to play some of these though!

Quake, Quake 2 and 4 are all on sale on Steam right now if anyone wants them. Quake and Quake 2 are both the full, remastered package. Runs till Nov 2nd.

£3.14 each if I remember rightly.

Yeah we can work around times to see what works.

I think a weekly game that we change up ever couple of weeks would be fun. Give us time to get to know a game without being stuck on it for too long.

I'm definitely wanting to take steps to make sure people are able to join in even if they don't have the appropriate files. :shifty:

Unreal Tournament is doable, but will need some looking into first.

I'm glad it allows that.

Makes you an easier target.

Cross-platform Quake Remastered "should" work, but I had trouble getting a switch player to join the room with the room code thing. So while I'm hoping we can get some console players to join us, they'll need to make sure their system and game settings allow crossplay.

I've been looking into some of the other games that people have mentioned and have been able to figure out what we need to do.

I've been able to get Duke Nukem 3D, Star Trek: Elite Force and Unreal Tournament running and online, all with lobby systems and server list. I imagine that other Build engine games like Blood and Shadow Warrior will work the same way as Duke but I haven't looked at them yet.

UT 2004 requires a bit of config to access new servers so I've not figured that out completely yet.
I'm also going to check out both Soldier of Fortune games, Kingpin, Alien Vs Predator, Shogo Mobile Division, SIN and the Jedi Knight games.
If anyone has any requests then let me know and I'll add it to the list.

I'm trying to arrange it so I have everything we need for a specific game in a single download. So I can make that available where necessary.

My one worry though is we get to Unreal Tournament and just never play anything else because it's that good.
