Also, if anyone's interested in doing a wee live game and streaming it to the GRCade Twitch channel, give me a shout!

We could stream our current match tonight if you like?

Can't do tonight I'm afraid as I'm due on my own channel at 4.30, but am free tomorrow or any other night for the rest of the week!

As did I against Pancake. Saw what was coming a couple of moves early and just couldn't get a defence ready in my mind. Mated in about 11 moves.

Sorry about that. I was deliberately trying to bait you into that trap, felt a bit bad! There are ways to defend it and if you play the right defensive moves then black actually comes out worse but I wanted to give it a try. Happy to play the next game whenever you're ready. :)

Edit: if I could maybe offer some advice, and I hope it doesn't sound patronising or anything, I think you spent too much time trying to chase my pieces around instead of developing your own. If you follow Tomous' general rules then you're less likely to fall into early traps; develop towards the centre, don't move a piece more than once, castle early.

I was actually generally trying to anticipate which of my pieces you wanted to take and try to counter move accordingly, while keeping a decent share of the centre of the board. Made the proverbial banana split of it though. Basically thought myself into a feedback loop.

"the proverbial banana split"

It's one of my favourite things, getting checkmate after a piece sacrifice. The bigger the piece the better!

There is a moment where my Bishop is on d4, you attack rook to f2. Whilst you got a free pawn. If you'd attacked pawn to c5 my Bishop was there for the taking.

I think you're talking about the below blunder :P :slol:  I have no idea what I was thinking at the time but it looks quite bad in hindsight!

Curls won the first one. We're just on the second one. Apologies for running over the deadline!

Yes, going quite smoothly with us both making moves fairly quickly, now that I'm in work and not out doing stuff ;-)

No problem! It's more of a guideline so there is some structure.

You know in The Blindside when Sandra Bullock tells Michael Oher to imagine his team are his family and then he becomes this amazing defensive player because he won't let anything happen to his family? Can I tell my Bishops the King's a paedophile priest?

My god, i find slow chess so difficult, no matter how much I think I've taken the time to think. I never have, I only ever think about my moves and not what my opponents doing. Recipe for disaster. Speed chess is much more my style.

Hypes just beat me and I imagine Superdragon will even it to 1-1 soon.

I think I prefer speed because I don't get so tense! I know I'll strawberry float up at some point and it's more likely my opponent will

It's a very odd game though. And it really shows me how the body and mind changes on a day to day basis. If i've had a few drinks recently or been working hard and I am stressed. My skill deteriorates.

if I've not been working nights, had a bit of exercise, am generally happy. I am sooooooooooo MUCH better, to the point where I can spot every move and defend like a mule.
