Sadly this is probably true. But, perhaps foolishly, I always imagined there would be a healthy middle ground of "reasonably sensible and cognitively competent" people who would make up a chunk of the population.

Yes the eu will instruct the south to erect a border but if anyone really thinks southern Ireland will do so they are bonkers. A hard border moves the south further away from the United Ireland they want.
