Theresa May rejects a points based immigration system.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-37271420

If you have a job and accomodation and wont be taking anything fom thestate then you can come her in controlled numbers

It appears that all the promises made by the Leave camp were a load of hot air. People were mislead on what they were voting for, yet Leave supporters say we must respect the democratic referendum vote. What did we expect? Referendums are only supported by dictators and demagogues.

Maybe it's time to bring back National Service, and train them to help police our borders, amongst other duties. I believe that people would rather do this than try to survive on £50/£70 per week.

May cannot fail to reduce immigration. End of. Whether we have a points-based system or not, is it that hard to develop a system which controls the numbers and takes them based on skill?! No, it damn well isn't.

We had up to 50k annual net migration till 97 when BLiar got into power.

If immigration is not reduced over the next few years, Nationalism will continue growing.

And good

Perhaps Trump's got the right idea. Build a big wall and keep everyone out!

See the Blame Brexit Corporation are in full flow throughout the China visit and for ever more. Get used to it and shut it.

It doesn't have to be a points system it could be a have you got real proof of a real job arranged and the real qualifications to do it system

This is why we are leaving the EU.

The Church of Brussels with the Pope (Juncker) the Cardinals (commissioners) & Bishops (ministers), none of whom were ever elected to run the EU, playing at representing a higher authority. An "authority" they invented without a single person in Europe being allowed to vote for or against it.

We voted to leave.

Stay with "friends" like these?

NO!

Pull your finger out and get net immigration down to zero, Theresa you fascist.

Let’s go lefty and see what the Guardian commenters think of the Keith Vaz story and whether he should step down as chair of the Home Affairs committee.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfr ... -sex-trade

I have to feel sorry for his wife, Veronica Vaz. If you say her name 4 or 5 times in a row it sounds like you are singing the theme tune to Blankety Blank.

She’s called Maria

Absolutely not. He should be applauded for subjecting himself to in depth research of the subject matter.

Quite, my only reservation would be that he let EU migrants in through his back door...

How simple does it have to be?
If you believe in the theory behind the Nordic-model legislation, which is that sex work is largely coerced, then he's a colossal hypocrite with no standing to make decisions in this area.
If you don't buy the theory*, it's doubly absurd that he should be able to vote on criminalizing only one side of a transaction between consenting adults.
*Which, by the way, means that you are a rational being inhabiting a fact-based world.

COUNCIL TO DISCUSS PLANS TO WELCOME SYRIAN REFUGEES
Syrian refugees could be housed on the Isle of Wight whilst their asylum applications are considered, if plans by the Isle of Wight Council go ahead.

Laura Willcox Our soldiers fought for our country to keep it British and keep us safe does that not mean anything to our 'British' people anymore

Ben Goddin U watch the crime rate will go through the roof especially sex crimes these people are animals

Hollie Dolly we all have our own problems, our lives aren't rosey it's hard enough as it is to survive without all this...

Jim Simms Spot on David Crawford. Would they be seeking "refuge" in the UK if we didn't give them benefits galore and houses!
Seek your refuge in the nearest safe country if you're a refugee!!

Natasha West Jaimie no one says it is there fault...neither is it the islands or anyone that lives here..or in the UK, so why should we all take responsibility for something forced upon us? Everybody knows the refugees could have been made very welcome in many adjacent countries, but NO Cameron has to be a hero & say we will take them! Well no we won't, our Island services are disgusting short staffed into almost non existent..refugees will need these services in order to live here, if there isn't enough now then there won't be tomorrow, what I'm saying is THE ISLAND cannot afford to take in people in such desperate need for these services...

Lee Cotton Doesn't surprise me!!!strawberry floating useless pricks!

Rosie Savage No sorry you have your own country live there

Julia Nash Really! not enough houses to go round already, without bringing any more people here, I wouldn't mind but most of them are men looking to rob and pilage.

Joe Jd Mckee They are not refugees they are migrants.

Naomi Lordan I love the way some people are pissed off with others not wanting them here, I'm not against anyone and totally understand why they would want to run away but why are the men not staying in their country and fighting for it??? I'm pretty sure all the men in world war 1 &2 did not want to fight but they did so for their country! Isn't that how it should be.?? I personally cant see that helping a few would matter but unfortunately as written more would definitely follow (alot). I have alot of family on te mainland and one is a teacher, not far short of 40% of the sch is foreign which is not a problem apart from the fact they talk no english what so ever, I'm sure that will not help our children if all the attention and effort is working with children that font understand. Feel sorry for them all but my family and their future life is priority so the less the better

Rosie Savage It's all there own fault though if you do your homework it's civil war therefore they are messing it all up for themselves

Matthew Eyeball Hull Great less jobs for islanders

June Brett Well council will be sorry. There are not enough houses now Why should we keep them.Should send then all back to there own country.

Wayne Staff we don't want them on our island.

Naomi Lordan Maybe the refugees had more guts back then! If they are so great why do they not fight for their country mat?

Patrick Murray You wait until the church in Newport becomes a mosque, then support them run away cowards!!

Blakey Thomas i cant belive all this nasty hatered is all for 5 familys! you talk about houseing, not one of ya mentioned second home owners, the nhs is f****ed cos its being run down and sold, its not the refugees buying up the nhs its the second home owners! share holders. if ya want get angry get angry with the people who make you and your familys suffer, and have some compashion for gods sake.

Martin Coombes The problem needs to be addressed at Source!!!!! David Cameron said months ago but got shot down by all the flipping lefties this country has which has now seen Europe being invaded by Isis under stealth

Duane Sibbick Tell them all to fuckoff,

Jessica Fiona Brown House your bloody own first !!! I'm sorry there country's wouldn't help us simple they are runny away from
Somewhere people are trying to sort out we didn't run away when the wars were on did we no when London and places where being smashed to bits they know life will be easy here yes we should help with more aid ect but don't send them to somewhere that's got high unemployment and can't even house there own people this is asking for problems there is enough racist views here as it is

Jamie Stone Not our problem

Edmond Brown I heard that two going to move the french camp to cows

Clinton Sard They can bugger off back home to where there from

Pete Bradbury strawberry float right off

Pamela Mitchell I hope they don't spoil the island by letting in these people,I am sorry but they don't live the same way as we do and have no respect for what is beautiful

David Cleasby Great, low crime rate out the window, even harder for our youngsters to find work and housing. The island is over populated all ready so god knows what it will be like if this happens.

Naomi Lordan Maybe the refugees had more guts back then! If they are so great why do they not fight for their country mat?

Roger Lane We dont want them ,we have enough families that need housing , Sorry send them back to there own country

Jamie Park strawberry float rite off with that gooseberry fool

Lenard Shilcock You seem to be intent on turning the Isle of Wight into another Calais. What the hell is wrong with you?

Tina Brown I have a mainland family.next to me. No respect for the neighbourhood. Flytipping and haven't cut the grass in months. . Spectrum Housing association useless rude and very unhelpful. Hope they don't house them. The other association south.wight much more professional.

Sticking with Mini-E's theme, the BBC are reporting today that work is going to start on a wall in Calais to fence in the "jungle" and that the UK is going to pay for it.

The commenter's are really happy about this.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-37294187

Good!

The argument, as I understand it, is that these people 'need' to come here because they're fleeing war and persecution and so they seek a safe country.

Well, they're in one!

Last time I checked, France was a peaceful and stable democracy.

If they aren't going to apply for asylum there - or in any of the other stable countries they passed through to get there - I have no sympathy.

The French need to stop letting these people into their own country in the first place!

At last something is being done to defend UK borders.. These people are already in France which is a safe country (& have been in other safe countries before that e.g. Greece, Turkey, Italy). They are illegal immigrants & are committing a crime by entering the UK. The UK must defend our border we have all seen the terror attacks & assaults in France/Germany

Fantastic news! Frankly I'm amazed it's taken us this long to even get it started.

No doubt the left-wing hipsters and students inside the M25 luvvie bubble will have a massive problem with this and plenty to say on the subject - all the time forgetting that their fair-trade organic quinoa muffins had to get to them via a lorry driven by someone who will very much welcome this move.

France's sheer incompetence baffles me.

These people are in France ILLEGALLY. They have no right to be there.

So round them up and deport them!

I know France has a history of surrendering to invasions, but this takes spinelessness to a whole new level!

These people are not refugees, they are economic migrants looking for a cushy life in UK.France created this problem & should demolish the camp &
allow truckers safety.EU should address this but wont, too busy sucking up to Merkel who has caused havoc across mainland Europe.

No doubt BBC News will be showing as many pictures of babies and cute looking children as they can, when the Jungle is shut down....

....and ignoring the criminals , racists, homophobes and terrorists......

...as usual.

Police the borders properly, use the Army with live rounds, the PC brigade keeps on about children, but nightly I see gangs of fit young men stampeding about, creating havoc and attacking people and property. We are allowed to defend our country!

Recently in Germany I overheard two migrants conversing in perfect German. One said Germany was OK but she was planning to move on to England as life was better there and her brother already lived in London. Migrants simply don't want to stop in the first safe place, they want to stop in the best safe place, and they think that is England.

Surely it would be cheaper and more effective to post the army there, and shoot where needed?

It seems strange to me as a 38 year old that I grew up I times where people were excited at the prospect of walls (both real & ideological) being brought down and yet in such a short period of time we have gone full circle and are now rebuilding them all over the world.

How long until we start rounding up the un-desirables?

I wonder how many of these keyboard warriors who advocate shooting asylum seekers etc. would, if put in a room with them and given a gun, be able to actually do it themselves.
