Apologies to anyone reading the thread expecting to read about stock updates, I have no news to share I’m afraid.

I guess the fact that this thread was down on page 7 of GGC with the last post made three months ago says everything there is to say about console restocks. I know there have been small stock drops here and there but getting close to a year after launch I’m yet to see either a PS5 or XBOX Series X available to buy in a shop which is incredible.

I was lucky enough to get an Xbox Series X back in February from Smyths on finance (the only way it could be purchased) but I’ve been hoping to buy one for my brother as a gift for months with zero success.

I understand the context of COVID, component shortages and issues around importing but will this ever really end? Bit of a rhetorical question as I guess nobody knows.

Just thought I’d share my frustration and experience with others as I’m sure people want to read another post by some dickhead moaning about console shortages

Where are all the xboxes? :x

I got a PS5 Digital from the game collection. I had searches saved on safari across about 10 websites and would refresh them 4 or 5 times a day. They had 2 in stock  So lucky to grab one.

I’ve got one of those special edition halo series Xs on preorder. Not sure I need it. But there seem to be big drops of consoles every few weeks.

A lot of my local Games have fairly sudden stock drops of the Xbox - maybe follow their Twitter accounts? That’s how I got mine.

Nope. People have been posting stock updates in console specific threads.

For those that want a PS5, specifically from John Lewis, it’s coming early October:

Pre-orders are live on their site, I've just joined a queue an hour long. Chances of getting one - minimal I would imagine.

I got on the second it went live (I was waiting for the discord update for 30 mins), and it was saying out of stock straight away (less than 1 minute queue). When I tried looking at bundles etc it just kept saying I had tried adding to my basket too many times in a short time frame.

Gave up and decided I would rather have the cash than deal with this.

Sorry you guys are having probs. I think it comes down to having a bit of luck; being in the right place at the right time. I spent a few weeks looking and nothing was available but then I was fortunate with Argos - the trackers said the new stock would go on sale on a Monday and I was up at 6am on the site... nothing appeared. I tried again on the Tuesday at 6am and I could order.

PlayStation prayers for Rex and kaz!

I've actually been in the position of having one in a basket a couple of times and decided no. I kind of want one for Christmas but I think that's more about the shiny box on Christmas morning than actually wanting to play the games. I don't have enough time to play the games I already own.

In truth I am the same. I have actually ordered (and cancelled) orders twice before (once with Very and once with Currys).

Both times I tried to rationalise how many games I would actually buy compared to those I am getting on my Series X for essentially no outlay.

It’s the fancy Dual Sense that keeps making me justify having it. That and the ability to play some of my PS4 games without my PS4 Professional screaming away in the background. I tried playing Dreams again the other day and the noise was horrendous.

It's worth it for that alone. Playing ps4 games with a totally salient console is bliss.
