Mom and Pop console manufacturer Sony are getting Crushed by the big bad corporation.

Hardly, but the reality is that MS have far deeper pockets and are being extremely aggressive when it comes to eliminating the competition. I'm not happy at all with Sony's recent activity either, the entire market is doing my head in at the moment: always online games, nfts, £70 games, PS backwards compatibility, massive levels of consolidation, pitiful DLC, releasing unfinished games, the list goes on.

They are nowhere close to ‘eliminating the competition’.

It’s merely a competition which is more than what it was last gen. I agree with your other points though, online only games that have single player modes are annoying.

I'm talking end game; I can envision a world in which Xbox is the windows of the console market and that doesn't excite me.

The Activision acquisition is being watched closely by the FTC (slightly more than usual don't read into 'reports' that it will fall through - as an aside, same with Sony and Bungie, so many websites using clickbait about the FTC looking at that deal despite the fact that it's part of the process).

I can't see MS buying another big publisher after Activision, some dev's maybe but not a publisher. It's the Netflix model essentially, they need more and more content and with the amount of studios they will have roughly this time next year, it should be enough but I'm no employee of Xbox and word is they still want more content. I can see IOI and maybe Avalanche studios joining.

Consolidation is not a good thing but both companies keep taking games away from the other for years , Sony has been very aggressive with it, recently banning Xbox's EDGE browser from accessing Nvidias streaming service to play God of War which is just petty plus we'll never see a Final Fantasy game on Xbox ever again which is balls for an FF fan like me so the vindictive side of me feels like it's fair game....

Not sure buying Activision and Bethesda is comparible to FF exclusively.

Anyway, well off topic...

Activision's main games will still go to PS5 for the foreseeable, Bethesda doesn't seem like it will be the same but even within that, Death Loop and Ghost Wire were kept off Xbox plus it seems Sony also pay for multiplats to not be able to go on Gamepass (Resident Evil 7). Well off topic tho (but in my defence I can't post in the PS5 thread about anything relating to either console).

Microsoft tend to, at least historically, put the UK higher up their priority list compared to Sony. Probably another reason (on top of the S model and overall demand of the PS/XB) why it seems like stock on shelves is skewed that way here.

I know, that's what has allowed Sony to focus on other areas of the world in the past.

Argos had the ps5 horizon pack £499 in stock yesterday to collect next week, so the wife grabbed me one for my birthday! First time I’ve seen them in stock anywhere since they launched.

Welcome (next week) to the PS5 club, Daz! Clear out a large space below your TV and get ready to power up a superb machine (that has no gaems, obvs) :toot: .

That's a good tip. Just checked, and I could collect one at my local Argos on Monday.

Your guess is as good as mine. My intention is not to buy one yet, because I've already got a silly number of games that I really want to play. But I still want one. And knowing it's there, available...

Birthday isn’t until August but they are in stock and I didn’t want to risk them going. Will be sat taunting me for months. Although I’m sure the wife may cave and let me have it early!

It could be worth thinking about, dude!

No way can your PS5 be sat there boxed up for three months! Your "early birthday" sounds like it could work well :toot: .

ShopTo currently has PS5 consoles in stock - a queuing system is in place when you access the site.
