Don't you just hate those awful humans who give up their time to help raise money for one of the most important charities there is

I found Merchant to grate a bit at first, but I warmed to him quickly enough. Would love this to get a full series order or return for more charity fundraising a couple of times a year.

I thought it was very good and I enjoyed it! Rio hasn't got a clue how the electricity works but I got a big respect for him doing it for the charity. It must be very hard for him and family.

Just need to bring it back to the series, please!

I thought it was ok. Showed enough that the concept can still work. Wasn't so keen on the new version of the theme. The sets looked weak (understandable as they are not really TV sets) and the Future sets looked nothing like I remember. Merchant was good but I'm not sure it would really work with him for a full series. He just didn't feel "of the place" as it were. Fine for the special. But the thing I always loved about the original is just how much it seemed like a real place despite obviously knowing it wasn't. Maybe he can still be the man for the job but would just need to change the tone a bit.

That guys laugh though. :dread: :dread: :dread:

The electricity one was just :fp:

I thought it was good in that it was clearly distinct from the Industrial one. I remember them looking rather similar in the original.

I really enjoyed the show, Merchant was great, Rio was hilariously stupid and even Puzzle Boy Widdicombe managed to be less irritating than usual. Great stuff Channel 4!

I've finally watched it. It was ok overall but Stephen merchant was awful, jokes were horrendous. 50mins until he made me laugh.

Thinks he can insult me every five minutes and get away with it.

Hell of a lot better than Stephen Merchant. I mean you could probably say that about a random guy you pulled off the street, but still.

Also,

The new series will be filmed at a purpose-built maze in Bristol that's being created by the original Crystal Maze designer James Dillon and spans over 30,000 square feet. So that's a lot of running between rooms.

I personally thought Merchant was brilliant and I'm slightly gutted he's not doing full series.

Laga hates Gervais and anybody associated with him.

Merchant was great but Ayoade will do a decent job.

My problem with Ayoade is not that I don't like him, I like him in almost whatever he is in, but he doesn't get into the character of any of the shows he is in, he'd rather break them down piece by piece. I'm worried what hes going to do in the Crystal Maze if hes just being himself.

I don't hate anybody associated with him. Karl Pilkington was great when Gervais wasn't ruining things with shitty studio segments.

I'm not massively familiar with his work, though I like him in 48 Hours In...[insert European country here].

Is his awkwardness coupled with suit/tie combo at all times genuine or an act?
