PDC World Darts Championship

The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) World Darts Championship was first introduced in 1993 following a dispute with the British Darts Organisation (BDO), which had run its own version of the World Championship since 1978. The largest of all the PDC tournaments, it is now widely considered as the flagship event for the sport of darts. The event is broadcast Live and in its entirety by Sky Sports, & has been since its inception.

BDO Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship

The British Darts Organisation (BDO) World Darts Championship was first introduced in 1978, and was the showcase event in darts until 1993. The event is broadcast Live and in highlighted form by the BBC and, for the first time ever, ESPN (commencing 2012).

Well I like the girls even if darts is a bit dull

I like that KK added the girls after a few hours of no replies :lol:

Only got into it properly this year. I went on the 17th with some mates and we managed to get on TV during the van der Voort match. Been watching it at every chance I've had since.

The Whitlock and van Gerwen match was excellent and watching Hamilton cruise past Chisnall now reiterates my inkling that he can win it. His double-finishing is superb.

The crowds are amazing. The hype & production values which Sky have lifted pretty much directly from pro wrestling, boxing & UFC, has really elevated its popularity. Darts packing out the O2 in London? Would have seemed preposterous 10 years ago.

In comparison the PDC makes the BDO look incredibly stuffy. The behaviour from the crowds during PDC events, which sometimes does get way out of hand (Lewis had beer & rubbish thrown at him down the aisle-way & on stage against Anderson in Scotland), is just unheard of in the BDO.

Its a shame Chizzy lost tonight after what he has achieved in the tournament.
I hope the Belgium player and his other half do well, she gets the crowd really going!

I always half expect something to kick off in the crowd, all the singing, beer, long stints etc.
To be fair though it just seems like a great party atmosphere with probably just a few that spoil it from time to time.

Unbelievably, they've actually started with the "Trending on Twitter Worldwide" thing during this tournament. Phil Taylor was trending the other night. The commentators have mentioned it at least 4 times. I'm genuinely expecting "Sports Entertainment" to turn up next...

The atmosphere & amount of beer flowing though - it's basically the world's biggest & greatest touring pub.

Incredible match between Part & Wade this evening. Anyone else see it? Definitely one of the best game of darts I've ever seen.
