The interesting, sometimes extraordinary people I meet in this job. Just had a chat with a patient who, in his spare time, is a member of the 501st Storm Trooper Legion. He has three costumes, including Sand Trooper and Scout. Excellent.

It's not that serious but the pain can be dreadful as I discovered last night as I have come off the strong stuff dihydrocodeine I think. It's fracture in upper endplate of T7 vertebra (thoracic spine so right in the middle). I didn't sleep last night at all.

Yes I got out of bed and slipped down the stairs, I immediately started sweating and dry heaving and wailing with shock and pins n needles, it was horrible. And then I was stuck in A&E corridors for 80% of the time which was probably worse. My ass still hurts for the 8hrs or so I was still strapped to the ambulance hard stretcher.
Tried to do some very light work last night as my online shop was backed up, so back to Netflix, video games and reading for god knows how long.

Besides a boxer's fracture I've never broken anything so it was quite a shock, actually the first doctor that saw me wasn't even convinced it was anything more than muscular because I was coping so well, my experience of pain including feeling cold for some reason has been really strange as I am just use to mental anguish not physical pain, besides some terrible muscle knots that don't help. And a a neck problem earlier in the year that was probably caused by the type of work.

I'm very lucky there's no nerve damage as paralysis would have ended me.

I could have at least made it more than half way to the bathroom.

Get well soon though, Gecko. That sounds pretty horrendous but I'm glad you seem to be coping okay.

I'm so sorry Gecko that sounds awful. My friend broke his back by just landing funny in the direct center of it, so it's easily done.

The company I work for has expanded rapidly in the past 12 months so they have restructured things a bit, long story short Im now a manager. Im only in charge of 1 person right now (the team will grow) but its still a big change, interesting times ahead!

I appreciate the well wishes guys, I'm not used to this kind of impedance at all and I couldn't anticipate the psychological impact it would have either. I feel like my bloody mum (who's broken pretty much everything, she has osteoporosis and a car accident).

I have to sit a stupidly hard exam next week to do a senior role that I've already proven I can do, by actually doing the job.Meh.
