That is one of the things they have tried to fix.

I did find this game a tiny bit more difficult at the begining compared to the last as you actually have to play this one as a covershooter.

I have now got to level 30. I do think the progression was better thought out, the missions were a good length that I didn't feel like I had to make time just to finish it or blink and eye and it was over. So much loot, check every ally, check every open door way. Even weapon cases respawn weapons so I would just take a wonder round and see what I can pick up.

The game didn't make you feel that you must at all costs get to the highest level possible as quickly as humanly possible.

I do recommend taking your time and seeing the sights.

Yeah, definitely agree about playing it as a cover shooter. I re-played Spec Ops: The Line last year, and the early hotel mission in Div 2 reminded me so much of that (in an entirely good way).

I’ve just been looking at the commendations menu. Wow. There’s a lifetime of challenges there.

Still very early days, but loving it so far.

I’m a bit confused by the Projects though. I’ve donated the required resources, and the final step is “neutralise hostile activity”. But it doesn’t tell me where that is, and I can’t see any way to set it as a waypoint.

There was a question mark on the map, so I figured it was that. Went there, and there was an enemy presence, but I was reckless and got downed. When I respawned and went back - nobody there.

It doesn’t tell you where but I think you have to find and neutralise them on the question mark. I’ve managed to get two project items last night at the Theatre Settlement.

Ah, ok. It’s not a specific hostile activity. Similarly, I need to disrupt a public execution. Just need to find one.

I found out to my detriment that they do execute the hostages if you take too long.

I’m kind of missing giving stuff to help out random people. The streets seem much less populated. I guess that fits, story-wise, but it feels a bit too quiet.

I miss the snow but I am liking the environment. The weather can be pretty intence at times.

Gun play is quite satisfying and the missions feel longer but not too long. Plenty of side missions like the original and the story is decent. You can tell they have learned a lot from the first game. They have changed some things they have not altered things just because, they have altered them because they didn't really work in the old game (blueprints, material farming).

I am pretty positive about the whole thing.

The mechanics are much more refined and moment to gameplay is...familiar, but evolved. Everything is streamlined, but not simplified. The skills have largely been reworked. (I love my turret, but having a hive of sparkly fireflies is brilliant)

The world I think loses something from Snowy New York at Christman - but it's very well done post apocolypse. There's also more organically going on (not as much as some people say, so moderately temper expectations - at least before endgame...might change). The world can be stunning in right conditions - there's a variety of weather conditions (fighting in a thunder storm is amazing)

The story is still pretty bobbins (and I dont think the collectable side stories are as good.)

There's an INSANE amount of things to do (level 14...I have main missions. Side missions. Settlements. Control points. World Events. Projects. Safe Houses. Collectables. Dark Zone Recon [and bounties to come]) - almost too much

It's pretty hard single player - but comes alive in multiplayer (i've mostly been randoming - but doing some missions with a chum and voice coms was brilliant)

The main missions stand out (so far) because of settings. They've learnt a lot - well made, interesting designs and much larger areas for enouncters. The History Musuem is good...but then you get the Air and Space Museum..Wow.

PatchGate update:
Finally sped up and is now only 3 hours to completion.

It's been a long, tiring road...

Cheers. I’ve seen quite a few since. I wasn’t particularly careful the first time but somehow the hostages survived.

I read somewhere that side missions basically give you XP equal to a third of your next level-up, so it’s better to leave them until later, as they’re worth much more. Don’t know how accurate that is, but it’s annoying as it’s deterring me from doing them now.

As far as I can tell Story Missions have a set level - side missions will level up with you, so they'll always be at same point.

You "need" to do a couple at least to keep up with story level progression jumps - but yeah popular theory is it can be better to leave side missions till later for the post campaign push to 30. (You'll outlevel the main missions if you do too many)

OK, I’ll do a few. Cheers. My problem is that I like to tidy up areas as I go. I’ll have to be less thorough for a bit.

Projects seem to give good XP too.

Anyone else been having the disappearing Drone/Turret glitch?

Read about and it appears to be a known issue for some players. Basically makes the skill unusable as they disappear and reset the cooldown about 2-5 seconds after you activate them.
