To be honest I've not paid an iota of attention to the perks that weapons and gear have added and I've never once felt like I was struggling as a result. Finished the main game, hit World Tier 1 and focussed entirely on Gear Score with the only criteria being that it must be higher than the one I've already got.
Which is good because I have no interest in "optimising my build" and if that's the direction the raid requires, then GG, I've got other stuff to play.

I feel once our trio finish all the world tiers and side stuff that may be it for a while as I can't see Lewis having anywhere near enough time to play to gear-up for the raid.

Weird how there's no matchmaking in the raid after all the bravado about them having matchmaking for all activities.

The Raid has been cleared on both PS4 and Xbox.

They are looking at doing something with LFG without the toxic bs that goes with it.

Having just attempted it you would not want to matchmake that.

Christ. On. A. Bike that is hard.

So... It seems the speed record for the raid is 23 minutes 40 seconds.

On PC yes.
On Xbox it's still about 20 hours and only one team has completed it.
It seems the raid has be designed with PC gamers in mind as apparently the first boss guy just heals like a beast before people can start shooting him as aiming at him takes a lot longer on consoles.

It's carnage, you can stop him healing but you'd need an intricate plan with each player having a specific role, plus the adds are everywhere and pack a huge punch they seem like they are challenging level difficulty . We got him down to half health and some of our builds are nowhere near the 1.5 million being quoted.

But yeah, my advice would be strawberry float doing the raid off for now and I am a big completionist and like to think I'm pretty good at both 3rd person shooters and RPG's. You would need 8 very competent players with very good builds and 12 hours to practice and you might get past Boomer. I don't know if its going to be made easier by raising the level cap or applying a nerf on console but at the moment I would not attempt it.

Apparently the final boss is even worse.

The fact that I'm not the greatest gamer and don't have a decent build mean I'm not going to attempt it as I'd feel terrible dragging down a team of 8 people all struggling like hell.
I can kind of see what they were going for with it being just for the best of the best but they should have at least a mode that most people can hope to complete as otherwise it's a huge section of the game that's completely hell for most of the userbase.

In terms of difficulty they should of just looked to Destiny, for all there other faults Bungie have nailed every single raid in Destiny and Destiny 2. around 9% can get the normal raids done with about 5% managing to do the hard raid.

This in it's current state will not get above 0.1%

I managed to do the raids on Destiny (I think we did a few on hard mode, I can't remember) and while they were indeed a challenge they never felt like I had to grind for stupid amounts of time just to get stuff good enough to even attempt it.
I honestly can't see anyone with a family or a full time job having enough time to gear-up for this raid let alone have single slots big enough to then do each boss.

The people who will chime in with "Get Gud" or "Just spend time farming!" obviously have way, way more free time than almost anyone can devote to a single activity like this.

I agree that it looks to be balanced to PC, they need to rebalance to the strengths of the consoles. It's not about making things easier, it's about making the raid more realistic to the controls used.

IMO, the basic raid should be possible via matchmaking. Then they can add pro mode, or whatever, with multiple levels of difficulty for those in clans. Absolutely no justification in designing content that most players won’t be able to access, let alone complete. (This is not personal resentment. I’m nowhere near ready for the raid at any level.)

Can't agree with that. Everything that makes a raid a raid relies on good communication which you will not get with matchmaking.

I would say it's easy enough to use a LFG website but I should imagine everyone is being very eliteist due to the difficulty.

Nice, I still haven't used mine, I am still trying to sort a decent build out as well as levelling up my alt.

Please don't take this as me shitting on consoles as I am not, but the pc raid record has dropped to 16 minutes 30.

PostRe: The Division 2 - Heavy Gunner Specialization coming in Update #4
by LewisD » Tue Jun 04, 2019 5:19 pm

Anyone still playing this?

The Heavy Gunner Specialisation comes out with Title update 4:

https://www.reddit.com/r/thedivision/co ... 019_title/

Joining the fight together with the other Specialists, The Gunner is equipped with the powerful Minigun, which will be a force to be reckoned with on the streets of Washington, D.C. With an emphasis on sustained damage output and damage resilience, the Gunner will serve as the vanguard of SHD Agents in the ongoing fight to reclaim the city.

When activated, The Gunner receive bonus armour based on the amount of Specialization ammunition they are carrying and can easily tank incoming damage for short periods of time while using their Minigun to suppress their enemies. There's a catch though – when the weapon is drawn, the Gunner can't enter cover, vault or roll.

To get enemies out in the open, the Gunner comes with the Banshee Signature Skill, which ignores cover and causes its targets to become confused. When an enemy stumble out of cover is the perfect opportunity for the Gunner to use their special grenade – the Riot Foam grenade – trapping the enemy in place.

The specialization comes with a new skill tree and the P320 XCompact sidearm.

The Gunner will be available to test on the Public Test Server, opening on June 4th, in order get as much feedback on it before it is released on the Live servers in Title Update 4, coming in June 2019. Please join us on the official forums and tell us about your experiences with it.

SPECIAL FIELD RESEARCH
While the three previous Specializations are automatically available to you when reaching level 30, to unlock Gunner you need to take on Special Field Research: five stages of in-game challenges, each with their own set of objectives and rewards. By completing all five stages, you will gain access to the Gunner Specialization and the newest signature weapon in the SHD arsenal.
If you have the Year 1 Pass, you will instantly unlock the Gunner Specialization. You can still take on the Special Field Research, but as you progress through the stages you will unlock additional, exclusive cosmetic rewards; the Fisticuffs and Front Flex emotes, Charcoal and Detritus gear dyes, Rosethorn and Pineapple weapon skins, the Gunner mask and the Gunner specialization uniform.
The Special Field Research will be available on the Public Test Server, but on the PTS you will not have to complete it to give the Gunner a go.

FAQ:
  • Since Pass players get immediate access to the specialization, doesn't this create a gameplay advantage?
Specializations have abilities and specialized weapons tailored to specific playstyles. Though Year 1 Pass owners will have the benefit of instant access to new Specializations, all players will be able to unlock them through gameplay. All Specializations have different strengths and weaknesses, and appeal to different playstyles and tactical situations. The new Specializations will offer the same tier of power as other Specializations.

Is Year 1 Pass the only option to instantly access the specialization and earning the cosmetic rewards?
Players interested in the Gunner specialization access and earnable cosmetic rewards, can either secure it through the Year 1 Pass, or purchase a Gunner ‘Specialization Pack' for Premium Credits on the in-game store, which will entitle them to the same benefits for the Gunner specialization.
Note that Year 1 Pass comes with similar benefits for the remaining 2 specializations coming later in Year 1, as well as host of other content & perks. Discover what Pass has to offer here.
  • Can I still get the cosmetic rewards if I start the Specialization Field Research without the Pass?
Yes. You can upgrade to Year 1 Pass at any point. The moment you get Year 1 Pass, you will immediately unlock Gunner (if you have not finished the research just yet), as well as get the cosmetic rewards you have earned, depending on which stage you are at.
Even if you unlocked the Specialization without the Pass, once you purchase it, you will immediately unlock all cosmetic rewards, including the uniform.

It looks like a beast, but if it's anything like the other Specialisations you'll get five bullets for it and then it's useless.

Yes, that was hugely frustrating. I forgot I had my specialisation most of the time simply because I never had ammo and bugger all dropped for me during missions.
