Oh aye? Do tell!

In Trial of a Timelord the Doctor was put to trial by the Valeyard (aka. Scrapyard), the evil 13th regeneration of himself.

I read somewhere that all the show runners since then have tried to ignore that as much as possible, cause it ties their hands so much

Here's a trailer of Trial of a Timelord that makes it look much more exciting than it actually is:

Isn't the guy in the black the guy who plays Donald in Emmerdale now? Or is that just me being stupid.

Just a note to you all, Doctor Who: The Writer's Tale is out next Wednesday, if you are really interested in the behind the scenes aspect of the new series, then you should definitely buy this. It's over 500 pages of Russell T Davies' e-mail correspondence with Benjamin Cook where he basically writes about the day to day aspect of writing and producing.

Writing isn't just a job that stops at six-thirty... It's a mad, sexy, sad, scary, obsessive, ruthless, joyful, and utterly, utterly personal thing. There s not the writer and then me; there's just me. All of my life connects to the writing. All of it.'

A unique look into the BBC's most popular family drama, Doctor Who: The Writer's Tale is a year in the life of the hit television series, as told by the show's Head Writer and Executive Producer. A candid and in-depth correspondence between Russell T Davies and journalist Benjamin Cook, the book explores in detail Russell's work on Series Four, revealing how he plans the series and works with the show s writers; where he gets his ideas for plot, character and scenes; how actors are cast and other creative decisions are made; and how he juggles the demands of Doctor Who with the increasingly successful Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures spin-offs.

Russell's scripts are discussed as they develop, and Russell and Benjamin's wide-ranging discussions bring in experiences from previous series of Doctor Who as well as other shows Russell has written and created, including Queer as Folk, Bob & Rose, and The Second Coming. The reader is given total access to the show as it s created, and the writing is everything you would expect from Russell T Davies: warm, witty, insightful, and honest.

Fully illustrated with never-before-seen photos and artwork including original drawings by Russell himself The Writer's Tale is a not only the ultimate Doctor Who book, but a celebration of great writing and great television

It's £15 on Amazon

It's currently being serialised in The Times

Looks like it's going to be a brilliant read :D

The Title for the Christmas Special has been announced...

The Next Doctor

Plus...

On Saturday and Sunday, 8 and 9 November, the BBC will be opening the studio doors just outside Cardiff to 100 lucky competition winners and their friends and families. The money-can't-buy-experience is being run to help raise money for this year's BBC Children in Need appeal. Doctor Who: Backstage will take fans to the heart of the action at the BBC Wales studios.
Visitors will tour the closely-guarded sets, come face-to-face with some of the Doctor's mortal enemies, and meet the behind-the-scenes teams who make it all happen – including the set designers, costumiers and make-up artists.
Russell T Davies says: "This is so exciting – giving fans the opportunity to take a behind the scenes look at where we film Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures is just brilliant. "It'll be the perfect opportunity for the whole family to experience something unique and truly extraordinary. It will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience – and the best thing is that all the money raised will go towards BBC Children in Need." To be in with a chance of winning a place on the tour, all people have to do is answer one multiple-choice question.
The all-important question will be announced on Friday 26 September, live on the Chris Moyles show on BBC Radio 1 and on BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio Cymru. It will also be available on the Doctor Who website – bbc.co.uk/doctorwho – along with the full terms and conditions. The competition phone lines will be open from 8am on Friday 26 September 2008. Callers must be over 16 and have the bill-payers' permission. Each winner will be able to bring up to three guests who must all be aged five or over.

Am so entering...

The more I read about RTD the less and less I like the fellow!

I think they will throw a massive curveball with the Christmas special, I don't think it will turn out anything like we all think it will.

Apparently in the episode commentary for Silence in the Library (for the S4 DVD boxset) David Tennant calls Steven Moffat "his new boss" now he wouldn't be his boss if he wasn't staying for Series 5 would he :D :D :D

SERIES FIVE POSSIBLE EPISODE SPOILERS

Apparently the series opener will be a 2 parter...and will feature Daleks with the big finale featuring the Zygons who will appear (in disguise of course) in every single episode of Series 5. The new companion will possibly be a non-contemporary, celtic one.

In the S4 DVD Deleted Scenes we will see the original ending to Journey's End where we see Cybermen coming up behind the Doctor and the usual "What what WHAAAAAT" stuff and to show I'm not joking...

Thanks to Outpost Gallifrey, Planet Gallifrey etc. for all this news

The Writer's Tale is amazing, it honestly is bloody immense.

Your image won't display because it has to be opened on the host machine, not in the browser. Rehost.

Also, if those spoilers are true, I will be a happy bunny, but... Daleks again? :|

The evil 13th regeneration of the doctor cant go back in time and steal his own regenerations. The timelords have all been wiped out and thus time is infinately mutable. The writers can change the canon all they like and explain it away with 'timey-wimey stuff!' (Thank God)

Fixed, here it is again

Anyway the Daleks would have had a 2 year break so it might not be too much of a problem. Apparently Moffat either wants to get them out of the way early or not do them at all in series 5. Rumours are that the BBC are pressuring him to do a Dalek story to make the series come back with a bang. Anyway Daleks + Moffat = Massive Win to me

I'm not really a huge Dr Who fan, used to be though. Anyway I heard a rumour about who would be taking the role of the Doctor in the sixth series of the show.
Paterson Joseph

I don't know how realistic this is as I don't really have much Who knowledge. But there we go.

The rumour is from the LITG column which can sometimes call thing with a deadly degree of accuracy months before they come to pass/ are announced. Other times they miss.

David T vs Cath T for best Drama performance at the National Television Awards.

Both brilliant, but Tate wins it for me. She was amazing this year (except for the times she got a little too shouty

If you want to go to place where all the Doctor Who news comes from then go to Outpost Gallifrey, their spoilers are 99% of the time spot on. They are speculating that Sean Pertwee might be the next one.
