I do love the idea of Fallout Online, Alvin, although I'm not so sure about the proposal of getting it up and runnng as a replacement for ESO. ESO is increasing in popularity - gaining the "MMO of the Year 2016" award from MMORPG.com - and I can see Zenimax and Bethesda expanding that for many years to come.

I think the two games each warrant an MMO and, being different in style and - possibly - fan base, hopefully both would prove profitable. I really like ESO but I would be even more hyped about Fallout Online :) .

I considered waiting for Morrowind but thought I'd take Jawa's advice and try the original game out first. So not wanting to wait around for a mail order delivery or digital download I popped down to my local CEX and picked up a copy of Tamriel Unlimited for a tenner, nice. So I put the game in my PS4 Pro to install but then saw the size of the update file -42.615 GB! So I guess I won't be venturing back to Tamriel this weekend.

Lagamorph wrote:A lot of people who don't enjoy this tend to go in with a mindset of it being "Skyrim with multiplayer". It isn't, but the game wasn't meant to be that either, so it's certainly not a negative against it.
Just don't go in expecting a 'traditional' Elder Scrolls experience, go in being open to it being an MMO first and something different to the usual Elder Scrolls formula.

Cheers I will keep an open mind, I will be playing in first-person mode for some sense of familiarity.

Yeah, the game has been expanded significantly since launch and the expansions are pretty big. Especially with MMOs, the disc version of a game is really just a key to download the latest information. My PS4 installation currently stands at circa 75Gb.

The Elder Scrolls Online is going to be free-to-play for one week from 15:00 (UK) tomorrow. The offer applies to PS4, XBO and PC versions of the game.

This could be a great chance to dive in and try out the gameplay mechanisms ahead of the Morrowind expansion arriving in June. Crowns (the currency of the optional DLC) will also be on sale during the free trial period.

I might check it out during the long weekend...if I get tired of Zelda...and Yooka-Laylee...and Graceful Explosion Machine...and Blaster Master Zero. These things always come about at the worst times. :P

Any cheap PAL PS4 download codes for ESO: Morrowind, or is the £29.99 price on PSN my best bet?

Also, my username is MrParksey - I have no GRcade ESO players added I think, so if anyone fancies playing some time let me know. The time difference often rules stuff out, mind.

I haven't seen PS4 codes anywhere yet, Parksey, so I suspect the Store deal is the best option. Edit: But buy your credit through, say, CDkeys, obvs.

I played for around ninety minutes yesterday and Morrowind looks good. I didn't do any missions - I just wandered about and looked at the gameworld - but it was great. It's odd... I really know so little about the game even though I've played it for quite some time. I wish there was a guidebook available; the game is so huge and the gameplay elements so complex that it can be hard to work out what you need to do. I like it but I guess I need to focus on it a bit more.

I'm just wondering whether to buy it or not.

I haven't played the original so there'll be no nostalgia (got into the series with Oblivion) and I've only done about two of the 11 or so areas in the main game, and yet to touch the DLC. Wondering how cost-effective buying it now will be.

You can download* and play the game for free on XBO from today through until 5 November.

*It’s a big game... you’ll need around 80 Gb of space.

Really must get back onto ESO. I really quite like it. Have a great Guild with work colleagues, but we all ended up on Secret World Legends for a change of setting a few months back.

Will have to pick up Morrowind as well.

Morrowind was €20 last week on Xbox, I have it installed on my and my daughters Xbox but we haven't gone near it yet.

Yeah it's ridiculously big now. Something like 90GB or something, and increases with each update. Saying that, the flipside is, there's an absolute fuckton of content. It's the opposite of Destiny 2, in that there are loads of variations of character build and options available to the player, loads of stuff for the solo player, an activity finder for dungeons and a massive endgame. It's also well supported with DLC, with four pieces and obe bigger "chapter" per year. If you pay a tenner for the ESO sub I think you get access to all the DLC bar Morrowind, which amounts to maybe 7 or 8 pieces of DLC.

It's really good, and a proper traditional MMO. Just wish others here would play it sometimes.

I got the Gold Edition of the original release for £9.99 off the game website for XB1. I briefly played it at launch on the PS4, but thought I would give it another go with all the improvements they have made. If I like it, I'll stump up the money for morrowind.

If anyone has any tips for a newb it would be appreciated!

Xbox One X Enhanced version looks pretty swish (even at 1080p).
