On the road to Solitude there lies a small house with a Dog which you can take as a companion.

I didn't, I think I'd actually be crushed if the game killed my dog, so I never took him with me.

I think I did a Joffrey on Lydia and cross bowed her to death.

I played Skyrim for ~200 hours and never came across the option to have a dog as a companion...
Didn't bother with any companions unless I was forced to, they barely seemed to help in the situations when I had to have them anyway. Certainly wouldn't get attached to them.

I took the dog with me until I went home and Lydia was waiting for me. Had to take her back?

The scary thing is it's part 212. That strawberry float nugget has 350 odd episodes.

I spoke to a fella the other night who watches lets plays and I can't get my head round it.

Why not play the game yourself?

His reply was it's like watching sports on TV.

I have no idea why Lets Play videos are so huge. I've tried with them, I get very bored.

it sounds extremely lazy but the appeal in let's plays for me is mainly:

1. you don't have to 'work' to experience the game yourself. e.g. sometimes i don't want to think about strategy or tactics.
2. you can find out cool new stuff that you hadn't known about.

Bumpy Bump.

After reading about Skyrim in the Fallout 4 thread, it occurred to me that I've never actually played it, which is strange as I love fantasy games.

I have it sitting in my steam library, never played, is it still worth playing today? What are the best mods to install if it is worth playing?

Yeah it's great. Massive, beautiful world.

Mods.... There are far too many to mention. Best bet is decide what you want from it and take it from there. My problem is that I spend far more time looking for and installing mods for the game than I do actually playing it. It can be a lot of work. However.... if you want it to look strawberry floating awesome then take a look at this. Make sure and install as many of the required and recommended mods as you can. Make sure and read everything though. So many mods have dependencies on other mods. It can be time consuming but once you get it working and have ironed out the kinks it's stunning.

Oh and there's sexy mods out there as well. But they're a pain in the arse to get working.... Or so I'm told. :shifty:

Never really bothered with any of the mods in Skyrim at the time.

It'd be interesting to see what I could make the game look like now, but looking at that link it looks like a ridiculous amount of work. I mean aren't all the mods in Steam anyway? Can't someone just package the good ones together in a single install you can do from Steam.

Nope, not going to bother unless its far more straight forward than that.

I'm playing it again at the minute on PC. Great stuff. I do prefer the setting of Fallout but gameplay wise they're the same. Apart from Civ V this game is the biggest time sink.

I'd have bought Fallout 4 this week but I actually want to play more Skyrim first so I'm holding off for now.

My stealth and archery is so overpowered now that even on legendary difficulty I'm unstoppable. I have very little health but it doesn't matter when everything dies before they even know I'm there.

Dragons are impossible though. I've been leading them to the nearest towns and have been letting the NPCs kill them.

The mods in the link basically overhaul every visual aspect of the game. But you're right, it is a lot of work getting them all to play nice.

However they do offer a lot more than the workshop can.

Sadly not all the mods are on the workshop, simply because some of them are too complicated for a simple one button install, and others offer a degree of customisation. If you've got the time and inclination it's worth doing, but it's not a quick job at all.

Would love to replay this on a powerful pc as opposed to the crap ps3 version, which i rushed through without doing many, of any of the sidequests.

How much would a decent gaming pc cost me and last?

I could just get an xbox 360 and mop up the other games i didn't buy as well as a few original xbox titles like shenmue 2 and jet set radio future!

I'd recommend £600 but you could get away with less. Bear in mind that you'll get something that outperforms a PS4 by a noticeable amount.

If you are modding for the first time you could do worse than checking this out;
