Properly socialist people are like vegans, if you don't agree entirely you are evil and wrong.

We had someone like that at my old work. She actually voted leave as a protest vote against who the strawberry float knows what. She was quite senior and my friend had to back off from repeatedly telling her you can't make a protest vote in a binary choice: you're just voting for the other side.

If they vote Tory then they probably are Tories.

But you are missing the point that a lot of non-Tories just don’t like Corbyn or dislike Corbyn’s policies.

It’s easy to just write people off as closet Tories but it’s simply not true that they all are. Corbynites seem to be unable to understand that for a lot of centrist and left leaning people, Corbyn just isn’t somebody that inspires them.

You have to understand however that with Corbyn they are coming off relative electoral success. Miliband got destroyed. I can see why they would be scared to change tack.

People have compared Corbyn supporters to a cult before. And it’s not that far fetched, any criticism of Corbyn is just not tolerated, if you criticise Corbyn then you must be a Tory! If you say that you don’t think you can vote for Labour while Corbyn is in charge, then it’s your fault if the Tories win. Anti-semitism in the Labour party is ignored or written off as either lies or as not being as bad as the racism in other parties.

It’s depressing really. We have the worst and most incompetent Tory government in living memory and we have little chance of getting rid of them as we also have one of the most useless oppositions in living memory.

I detest the whole "you don't like Corbyn then you're a closet Tory" train of thought. It's insulting.

I understand it well enough thank you.

What you have to understand is that 2017 was the high point for Corbyn and he did so well because May is so bad, a competent Tory leader would have destroyed him.

I don’t expect Labour to change any time soon. Which will mean a Tory government for the foreseeable future.

Miliband got strawberry floated not because he was the wrong political leaning but because the Tories or did an epic job of blaming the entire economic everything on Labour and the papers did a great job of thing his image with hello sandwich and whatnot.

Corbyn is a useless strawberry float who was up against may who is possibly a more useless strawberry float. They didn't do well in the last election, the Tories did catastrophically bad. However the corbynites now believe even more he is the new Jesus because they see it is a massive success.

No body actual said that though.

But they do. Any defence of Corbyn at all is met with the view that the person is a cultist and oh how they think he's Jesus. Yes he may be gooseberry fool in elements but people see Labour as a better alternative to what this actual Conservative government is doing

Sorry, I meant in this thread.

As for Corbyn, well I've been a Labour supporter all my life, but just don't find the man agreeable. I vote more tactically now, so as to keep the Tories out and since moving I've discovered that voting Labour here is a waste of time. Voting tactically worked a treat in our recent local elections.

Keep on enjoying the belief that Corbyn is great and it’d all work out if it wasn’t for those pesky closet Tories and centrist dads.

Heaven forbid that there might be problems with Corbyn himself, oh no it’s everyone else that is wrong.

Sorry for the edit to my post above, just wanted to highlight that Labour has never been a mover in Cheltenham. It's always been a Tory/Lib-dem face off.

Corbyn has many issues, another leader may do better/may not, but our lord and saviour Ed Miliband did much worse. I know you have to be right Moggy, but people have different political opinions to you. Hence Brexit got voted for, we have a Conservative government, and nobody cares about Vince Cable
