I actually think she is daft enough to think that she can get the things she asks for. There’s nothing in it for the EU to go along with that sort of plan, May sees herself as a tough (strong and stable) person that can get these deals through, I don’t think she’d admit to herself that she is pretty powerless at the moment.

Trade with the rest of the world - we already could.

Sovereignty – Parliament was always sovereign.

Immigration - We need immigration and we could kick out anybody we didn’t want.

Fishing – We might have more control over fishing rights, but we will have less places to fish when other countries impose rules over us.

The economy – Even a “best case” scenario where we remain in the single market will mean a drop in growth.

Membership costs – It’s not £350m a week, it won’t be used for the NHS and anything we do save on fees will be dwarfed by the economic impact of leaving.

Turkey might join – It’s never going to happen with Greece and Cyprus in the EU. Plus we could have vetoed it anyway.

Democracy – The EU is more democratic than the UK.

Blue Passports – I guess this will have to count as an overall victory for Leave.

If only we had a PM with a spine to just turn around and ignore the referendum. Fed up of this constant support for thick people.

They've put in a clause saying that they take no responsibility if planes aren't allowed to take off and land in the UK.

Apparently the aviation industry has no fallback option when the Open Skies Agreement is done (presumably with any HARD BREXIT)

Spain will have little say on flights in/out of Britain if no deal is reached.

As for visa fees, 18 million tourists paying fees to enter or exit Spain will probably sound like a good idea to the Spanish government. Would people really stop their holidays to their favourite country if there was an extra £10/£20 charge? Did tourism to America go down when they brought in ESTA?

It's hardly a vote winner for the Spanish government is it? A decent opposition politician would be able to spin any sort of decrease in tourists from the UK, no matter how negligible, as a direct result of the Governments greedy decision to impose visas, leading to job losses, blah de blah blah.


It might be amusing to think of Brexit ending up with all those who voted for it being "punished" for their actions but any punishment will probably be down to actions of the UK government not foreign politicians.
