Lucky the fire was put out so quickly, could have been so much worse with him pinned like that.

That's the one situation where the halo is far from ideal, if the car really caught fire and Hulkenberg was injured extracting them becomes a lot harder. With the halo attached can they still extract the driver without removing them from their seat?

Great moves so far from Verstappen, shame for Kimi in his (second) last race for Ferrari. LecLerc looking handy as well, that Sauber has come on a lot since pre season where I recall both drivers were struggling to keep it on track.

Seriously though, it's actually raining in Abu Dhabi, Ricciardo's strategy all along?

With all the bad luck he's had this year, I'd love to see Ricciardo win this last race.

He's such a nice guy

Also Will Buxton would then have to get a unicorn tattoo.

Really felt like it was going to rain and it did in downtown Abu Dhabi, shame it didn’t hit the track more. Did get rather dusty / sandy towards the end. Was probably the best race I’ve seen live. I’m sure it wasn’t amazing on tv but we got lots of overtakes in front of us, including the double pass around the Hass. Felt like a lot could still happen at the midway point but kind of petered out.

Abu Dhabi is a great venue, would highly recommend it. If you can afford to stay on Yas Island definitely do or if you’re brave enough to rent a car, do that. Transport around the circuit is far from ideal but everyone is super helpful and there’s thousands of staff on hand. Prices can for merch were disappointingly high, fancied some Renault stuff (that car looks great under the lights) but I’m not paying £40 for a hat. Will try and get some pics up when I’m home.

"Generally, what we want to do is make sure the track enforces the limits.

"And we don't have to resort to marshals or judges of fact reporting every time a car goes over the line. It's something that is dreadfully tedious, and I think it demeans the sport."

So according to Charlie Whiting enforcing track limits demeans the sport. WTF they are the rules for god's sake if other series can be tough on TL surely the pinnacle should do it as well it does not demean F1.

In WEC for example, Eduardo Freitas manages to enforce track limits properly, and without 'demeaning the sport'. Maybe the problem lies with a race director who is too weak?

Their biggest mistake was disposing of gravel traps, there was no track limits bs back then, if you left the track you either ended up breaking your front wing, beaching the car entirely, or coming to rest in the tyre barrier.

I think the main reasons for drivers going off track is because they don't enforce them enough, I deem a car as off track if none of its 4 wheels are in contact with the white line of the track edge. But no, at some races going completely off track is not seen as an advantage whereas at other tracks they get their lap time deleted. There's no consistency to it, if it were up to me as soon as a car no longer had any of its 4 wheels on the track someone would have a look at it to see if it was due to a mistake (which would be ok as you'd certainly lose time in this scenario) or trying to use it to their advantage in which case you'd be noted and then penalised if done repeatedly or time deleted in qualy.

New graphics for 2019 F1 coverage revealed
New graphics to potentially be used on Formula 1 coverage in 2019 have been revealed as Liberty Media's evolution of the show of the sport continues at pace. The new visuals show the chances of an overtake happening while cars spar on track, as well as further illustrations of car performance and pit-stop advantages.

I hate the probability of overtake graphics. Assuming it's accurate (it probably isn't) it's like you've got someone who has seen the race sitting next to you and spoiling every move.

Pit stop one is fine, but again I prefer to just see what happens without a computer predicting it in advance just to prove it can.

Car performance might be useful to highlight a problem with the car, but otherwise it's not needed.

Yeah, the car performance on is quite good, sure I saw something saying the thermal camera might be making a come back as well.

the 1994-2002 tv graphic's still better then the modern tv graphics which IMO there is too much info on screen

The one thing that annoys me with the graphics this year is when they put up that pointless "battle for 5th" text in place of the split times on the left hand sidebar. You'll be watch the splits come down bit by bit and then suddenly this blocks them and you can see everyone else's splits but not the one's who are fighting.

They could also make the text easier to read the color codes for each driver/team is pointless and is only relevant for multi class racing not single seater's. Also they need to get rid of the sound effect's when a graphic appears on screen and the beeping start lights all gimmicky and Mario Kart & Gran Turismo
