it was the best layout of Sliverstone and gave the circuit a good flow.

It was even better before they added the abbey chicane.

The chicane was installed in 1994 after Pedro Lamy had a massive accident there, trouble was, the crash wasn't caused by the circuit, it was caused by fast tracked FIA regulations following Imola which made teams remove pieces of the rear diffuser, this led to Lamy's rear wing collapsing at one of the fastest parts of the circuit.

Johnny Herbert (his then team mate) found the wreckage in the pedestrian tunnel by bridge corner, thankfully Lamy survived and eventually went on to race in sportscars.

Aye, he was highly respected by both his rivals and the fans because of how he conducted himself on and off track.

Hakkinen will always be remembered as one of the true greats of F1.

Hakkinen is my favourite ever f1 driver :wub:
