strawberry float me, I see some weird and stupid stuff on Facebook but I'm speechless at this.

As background: a neighbour we had when I was growing up is still friends with my mum. The neighbour has always been crazy but is a really nice person, just an elderly hippy really.

Her daughter is utterly materialistic and has always been obsessed with wealth and status. She married a rich bloke and is one of those that's always boasting about her large house, holiday home in Spain, brand new car etc etc.

Anyway, our crazy hippy ex-neighbour posted this earlier:

I listen to radio more than watch tv.
Ive heard, for wks about we're all learning new things, looking at our lives. That the negatives are obvious, far too many people dying, grief, the Nhs etc. They have, however, recently been telling us of many positives. The 1 that cheered me up most was, that folk have learnt a lot of lessons re the Planet,Nature,Recycling, home cooking&my favourite 1,that we are all going to come out, less Materialistic, realizing there is much more important things in life,than1s hair extentions, designer labels etc.Well ive tried to educate my family, that very mindset.Me being an aged Hippie&all.
I did smile 1st thing this morning, switching on to wish my Grandson a Happy 11th Birthday. If youve seen it you'll know that im saying out of love.
Tigers Birthday Cake.10 out of 10 for the baker, but OMGoodness,I sware they swapped my daughter in the Nursery.Shes a diamond&has always been the same.
She will never get me,she loves me&I know I still embarrasse her,but she couldnt possibly understand, how embarassed,Mum gets.

Her usual rambling nonsense. I slightly laughed at her post, pissed myself laughing that her grandson is called "Tiger", felt guilty (she is lovely) and then forgot about it.

And then my mum text me asking if I understood the post. I said I didn't and she then sent me a photo of the birthday cake:

I don't even. What the hell is wrong with people? :fp:

Just because you write Gucci on a cake, it doesn't make it a display of wealth or status ffs. If that was the case I'd write Ferrari on a post it note, then carry it around to casually show people in conversation.

The daughter replied to her mum's comment

The cake was a bit of fun mum, he loves bling, fake or real he doesn’t care. Likes what he likes, it’s same as his hair, he’s very individual. He’s had lizards, outdoor or reptile themes etc and doesn’t even eat cake, he wanted a pair of trainers but had a cake instead as it’s a bit of fun. It was nothing to do with me, him and his mate in school Joe love gucci or Louis Vuitton but to be fair it’s not the real stuff he likes the design of it. I’ve never been in to bold colours or golds.
