Then well it opened up to everyone, parents, grandparents & companies and then well it just turned to gooseberry fool.

Yeah those were the days. Facebook was just for catching up on the previous nights bants while hungover, rather than literally one of the worst things the human race has ever invented.

Yeah it was great for keeping in touch with people, sharing photos and stuff and was great.

Looking interests was fine but then those interests became groups and became about clickbait spam and it all turned to hell.

It became virtually impossible to see peoples actual posts it was just adds and group gooseberry fool.

Total heap of a system, I deleted my account a couple years back, only thing I miss is the heads-up on peoples birthdays.

I only use it to keep in contact with people. I don't get involved in anything else there, other than to occasionally screenshot something funny/horrific to post in here.

My phone synced Facebook birthdays to virtually my entire contact list (on its own calendar as well) so I took away one of the few valuable social pleasantries I am gooseberry fool at. Of course, this also meant facebook ate pretty much all the data on my phone, even my old landlords. When I downloaded my data the amount they had on me since 2007 was strawberry floating mental.

Not that I'm nice enough to wish happy birthday to anyone. I just have a pages slave account now, if you're on Facebook you're a product, may as well use it to my advantage instead.

I made a very conscious decision to stop doing happy birthday messages on Facebook several years ago. I do feel bad when people send them to me and I don't return them, but I feel like you're either all in and sending a message every bloody day, or you're all out, and I chose all out 8-).

I saw 3 “happy birthday, have a great one” messages to someone who is sadly now deceased. That pretty much sums up Facebook for me.

Someone on my feed has been kicking off over an article about Steve Coogan playing Jimmy Savile, and some of their friends have joined in with a lot of swivel eyed white victimhood. The article in question said "The Woke Lot" (spokesperson: Meadow Sugarsweet) were complaining that a white man was chosen to play the titular character instead of a disabled BAME woman or a "trannie" - yep, it's a Sunday Sport article  :fp:

Mark Zuckerberg and team consider shutting down Facebook and Instagram in Europe if Meta can not process Europeans’ data on US servers

One of the emptiest threats of all time

As if they're going to leave Europe. They'd break their own record for biggest share price drop
