PostThe films you've watched the most
by Death's Head » Fri Jan 29, 2016 2:10 pm

I was just thinking the other day about which films I've seen the most times. Typically I don't watch a film more than once and twice is quite rare. However, there are a few exceptions to the rule. What is your top 3 most viewed movies?

1) Star Wars - A New Hope
I've actually lost track of the amount of times I've seen this. I saw it originally at the cinema and probably went on to see it a few more times at the cinema (it was 10 years before we had a video recorder in our house so at that time, if you didn't see something at the cinema, the next time was when it came on TV). I've since seen it on video, TV and Bluray. Total viewings > 10

2) Robocop
Almost surprised by how many times I've seen this. I saw it twice at the cinema back on release, the 2nd time the following week because I thought it was that good. I have watched it on video twice and DVD once. Assuming I've not watched it on TV as well, I've watched it no less than 5 times.

3) Now things get more tricky. I'm thinking this is tied with The Matrix and The Terminator. I can remember seeing both of these films 3 times completely but it is possible I have seen them more when they have been on TV and I couldn't be bothered to get up/change channel.

Yes?

1) Die Hard, has to be close to 50 times.

2) Clerks, probably between 20-30 times.

3) The Usual Suspects, maybe 15-20 times.

I had a lot of time on my hands when I was in my teens.

I don't keep count but I've watched Ghostbusters, Goodfellas, Mulholland Drive and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory loads of times. All of them in double figures.

1) Aliens.

Me and my mate used to swap the Directors Cut video tape of this religiously during the 90's. Plus all the TV rewatches since.

There was a whole cult surrounding it at school when I was 12-16.

Nothing else really comes close and merely consists of TV rewatches of action movies (Die Hard, Predator, Commando, etc).

Star Wars OT, Ghostbusters 1&2, a few Disney films (Aladdin, Lion King,) Jurassic Park, Pulp Fiction, Usual Suspects, Se7en are the films I've watched the most, I think.

My brothers are a bit younger than me so most of the above can be explained by having them on VHS and just caning them at weekends.

Predator - at least 40 times
Terminator - probably same as above
Transformers: The Movie - difficult to remember, at least 2-3 times per year since 1988. watched it the other night too.

I can pretty much quote all three from start to finish.

Also highly watched

Gremlins
Coming to America
Terminator 2
Goldeneye
Ace Ventura Pet Detective
Pulp Fiction

The Goonies.

No idea how many times I've watched it. I first saw it around...1993ish at a guess.

Easily 50 anyway.

Couldn't even begin to count how many times I've seen them.

Way, way out in the lead would be Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.

The others most often watched would probably be Blue Velvet, Wild At Heart, Mulholland Drive, Withnail & I, Dead Man's Shoes and Magnolia.

'Monty Python And The Holy Grail' and 'Life of Brian'.

Will never stop being classics.

Think I've seen all the LotR films about 10 times each, used to be obsessed with them. Tried to watch the first again recently and couldn't handle it as I remembered virtually every line, dunno how people can watch films again when they already perfectly remember them.

Commando's on in the background every time I have a party, but it's generally muted and I don't really pay attention. Probably seen Bennett let off steam about 40 times though.

Star Wars OT by a long long way. When I was young my parents had a rule that in retrospect was odd; my brother and I weren't allowed a gaming console until I was about ten and then it was only because my Gran bought us one on the secret for Christmas. After that we were allowed an hour (total) on it during the week and an hour total at the weekend. For some reason films didn't follow the same rules; we could sit and watch them all weekend if we wanted, but we didn't really get them bought for us. Consequently after we got the OT one Christmas we must have seen each film 30+ times. I've probably seen them fifty times.
