Valencia 25th but Deportivo not even in the top 30 - they really did just have a few good seasons before disappearing again!

Depo are a little bit like Forest - great for a little while, looked like world beaters, but they have decades of no presence whatsoever and that really hurts their overall rank. Celtic are one of few a strange anomalies on there - nothing spectacular for many years but they consistently get into the tournament and usually perform solidly enough, and that’s enough to see them place very well.

Incredibly I think Blackburn are something like 340th on the list.

No it’s not. This player played for a team that terrorised Celtic for a few years. Incredibly irritating to come up against, hard to beat but not amazing on paper.

I know right! I think it has to be someone kind of forgettable, someone like Thomas Muller. Scores goals, sometimes plenty, but usually chips in with one at a time, and then one game everything just went his way.

Shakhtar were an eternal thorn in Celtic’s side - Brandao was the joint top scorer against Celtic in the Champions League for a long time...alongside Gary Caldwell.
