Guys, just thinking/playing about with ideas, but we might need to ask to be allowed back in the Other Football Thread.

Nothing concrete, and I'm sure ESL is still going ahead as planned, but just think it's worth having a backup option if something out of our control was to happen.

The last few days have shown us yet again the depth of feeling our Members around the forum have for this great thread and the forum we love.

We needed no reminding of this but the response from forum members in recent hours has given us time for further memes and deep thought.

It was never our intention to cause such distress, however when the invitation to create the Super League thread came, while knowing there were no guarantees, we did not want our post count to be left behind and to ensure we protected the Off Topic Section and its future.

As a result of reading many offensive PMs directed at my mother, and listening to the wider forum community over recent hours we are withdrawing from the proposed Super League thread.

We made a mistake, and we apologise for it.

We know it will take time to restore your faith in what we are trying to achieve here at the Super League Thread, but let us be clear that the decision to be part of the Super League thread was driven by our desire to protect the Super League Thread, the thread you love, and to support the forum you love through greater banter and posting stability.

Banter is essential for the game to prosper and we will continue to strive to bring the Bantz the Forum needs to move forward.

The system needs to be fixed. We must work together to find solutions which protect the future of the forum and harness the extraordinary power banter has to get us on the edge of our computer desk seats.

Finally, we know this has been hugely unsettling at the end of what has been an incredibly difficult 24 hours for us all.

Our aim is always to make the right decisions for this great forum, to protect it for the future and to take us forward. We didn’t make the right decision here, which we fully accept.
