David Gold seems confident that West Ham can beat Villa on the opening day of the season. Time to prove him wrong lads. 8-)

Excited about the start of a new season and hope that with some new signings Rodgers can get us up to 4th.

That fixture list hasn't given him any easy home games to start with though

Are there any easy home games for your lot? Apart from Man United?

They might get a League Two side in the cup.

Quite like our last run of games in the last two months, apart from Spurs there is quite a lot of 'beatable' teams if we are in a relegation scrap.

Already planned trip down to Southampton for the Newcastle game with all my Toon supporting mates in November. Them in the away end and me on me todd in the home stand

Still need a new CB, RM, and RB and possibly a GK (Craig Gordon :shifty: ) for me to sound confident, at the moment we've only spent £7million on Jay Rodriguez

Yup and the season before that it was the opposite again. No conspiracy theories but it's still hella annoying. Looking on the bright side three of those five trips ('pool, city and Villa) shouldn't be too bad, travel wise, for the players and it could have been a lot worse.

Well it's rumoured £6-7 million. Was a 'substantial undisclosed figure' whatever that means.

I'm not overly keen on that amount of money for a striker from the Championship. Could be a worthwhile gamble or a total flop. (Danny Graham and Conner Whickham the two cases for succeeding and failing)

I know Adkins was high on him throughout the Championship and after Celtic told us to strawberry float off numerous times for Hooper think he was his second choice.

Pretty optimistic about the new season...the way things are going though, there aren't really any 'easy' games these days. Certainly last season, any team seemed able to pull off an upset, and you can't take any game for granted. I can't remember a season as tight as last, with so few points covering large numbers of places in the table.

Hoping to God that City fail miserably at defending their title, and I reckon with a fit squad, Villa can do a lot better under Lambert.
