Why do Villa fans hate City so much?

I dont anymore

But its because they stole Milner and Barry I would guess.

They took them at the time, we were very close to something great.

Did they get them on a free transfer or did they purchase them from a club willing to sell?

I think Milner put in the dreaded "transfer list request" or something like that.

Milne never did anything, and barry just said he wanted to move, they both tried to engineer ways out, Milner was the one who if he stayed I dont think he would have been bothered

I've never liked City, but even less so since they began poaching everybody's best players, by tempting them with ludicrous money. It also strawberry floated up transfers for everyone else in the process. Same reason I disliked Chelsea a few years ago I guess. There's nothing particularly likeable about them in my eyes, even if you forget the money side of things.

Anyway, hope so glowy, need some fresh blood and a few players cleared out.

Something great is a bit of an exaggeration though, surely? GREAT. Something GREAT..."we were close to the top 4"? Really?

Im sorry, coming from a glory hunter like yourself, if you arent winning the title every year then getting into the CL for the first time is something you dont even lose sleep over :fp:

strawberry floating hell, think for one minute, if you actually properly supported a club, through the good and bad, saw them in lower divisions, not win trophies for years. The top 4 is the holy grail, more money, better players to attract, europes best tournament etc?

Though I guess you've seen all these trophies won and highs and lows, with your season ticket in the stretford end Sandy?

Jesus Christ, that comment wound me up.

 jesus christ. I just feel the word "great" is for other things. Calm down Glowly. Oh thanks for the glory hunter comment btw. I was wondering how long that would take in the new football thread  .

You seem to have taken that bizarrely badly. oh well.

Glowy

It's all about perspective. Four seasons ago Swansea reached the Championship for the first time since I'd been born, and for me, that was something GREAT.

Yes I have, coming from your "average" fan, who supports an "average" team, special things don't happen very often, so getting into the top 4 would have been tremendous, no scratch that, it would have been our greatest achievement in nearly 30 years.

So yes there you go.

Hmm fair do's. I guess I can see where you're coming from. Just the term great seems to get thrown around more than the word legend these days. (or world class).

I would be very happy if Everton got in the top four, so I can see where Glowy is coming from.

On that matter... What do people think of Newcastle? Will they repeat their "success" from last season? What are their expectations?

If they lose one maybe two of their good players I can see them coming mid table ish. Will be interesting though

Farewell to the old thread and had some good memories there.

Anyway, a fresh thread is rather good and I've seen the fixtures for Manchester United. It is not too bad though!

Terrifying end to the season for Swansea, Chelsea, City, United and Fulham.

We could do a Wigan and defy the odds whilst altering the title race, or we could get humiliated...

Fingers crossed we are safe by then.

Relatively nice start to the season though, away form home again on the opening day  but don't play one of the big teams for a while.

Interesting to see who Laudrup brings in, already been linked with Bendtner ( :fp: ) and Rosenberg.

I'd love to see Arsenal with the Champions league. I'm forever in Villa's shadow :(
