Did you catch 5Live before the game last night? Ian Wright absolutely tore into Chris Hughton, I was quite surprised because that's not usually the sort of commentator that Wright is.

I didn't. What did he say (let's pretend I'm bothered about the opinion of Ian Wright)?

From about 6 minutes in on this link

Berated him for his team selection last night by effectively abandoning the game and focusing on later games. Said the team doesn't really attack and just hope for snatching a goal.

Not really surprised, he's ex-Palace after all. What's he expecting us to do though, surge forward and leave ourselves exposed and ship 4-5 goals? He's a pleb.

He was fairly complementary about the organisation as a whole so it wasn't really a Palace/Brighton thing. Just seemed a bit out of character for him, he's not usually the one to criticise (that's Chris Sutton's job).

I'm not in a position to listen to that clip but I don't get the criticism of the team selection. Gross was our best player last season and is just returning from injury, Bissouma has been our best midfielder this season when he's allowed to play, Andone and Locadia aren't going to adapt to EPL if they aren't given more starts... I was very happy with the starting XI yesterday tbh.

Ian Wright is only Palace when he suits him...

The problem is playing for the draw as Brighton did yesterday is potentially more dangerous for them... Given that Cardiff could well be equal on points by the time they play Newcastle on Saturday, that's a lot of pressure to add on top of a last minute sickener...

Let alone the fear of Palace suddenly having a nasty stomach bug when they pop over to Wales the weekend after...

If Manu somehow, get a draw I'd have to re-evaluate my current position that City will win the league and the remaining 3 league games will be gut wrenching.

Based on how United have played recently, I think a 5-0 defeat is far more likely than a United win. Fortunately I am out tonight so I don't have to sit through another 90 minutes like Sunday.

A draw is actually no use to us at this stage. It only helps Liverpool. If we don't win I think I'd rather we lose than draw. I'm at work so won't be seeing it but even though I think we'll give it a go - I can't see us getting anything.

I'm expecting a better performance effort-wise, but I still think City will give United a pasting.

Sigh.

Awkward position to be in but can I stomach a derby loss to avoid Liverpool winning the title? Absolutely.

Plus if we get outclassed tonight which I expect it's more fuel for the fire in terms of getting certain players replaced in the summer.

I don't really get why people are so bothered about Liverpool winning the league. I'm sort of leaning towards them because I think the City owners are probably massive gooseberry fool bags that said it's probably the same with Liverpool's owners as well.

Not sure either really. If it was the situation reversed and Man U against a super rich Everton in the title race. With Liverpool up against Everton. I’d definitely want liverpooo to win the derby to get top 4. It’s absolutely detrimental for Man U to spend a season scrapping about in th europa league. Look at Liverpool in the early 2010’s finishing 7th and 8th and scraping out losses against Teams like ZEnit.

Why would Man U fans want that, for the sake of a bit of banter from what I expect are a few of their friends. Very very petty,

I live in Manchester and have quite a few friends who are City fans so it's not just a case of 'stopping Liverpool' City had years of absolute dross. When Joey Barton was your main man I think they deserve a purple patch.

I don’t want Liverpool winning the league.

But the last thing I also want is Man City coming to our stadium and embarrassing us. We win all our remaining games then that should be top four.

But after Sundays laughable performance the players need to respond, I don’t think any of the fans will give a toss what’s happening with the title any more. They just want to see a good performance from the team.

City are a good side but they were very nervous vs Spurs. No De Bruyne also. It’s not out of the realms for Man Utd to turn up and beat them.

Also Curls the City vs Man Utd Derby isn’t as fierce as Everton and Liverpool. Everton won leagues without financial doping and were fighting with Liverpool for leagues back in the day. They are a big club. Where as I and many other Man Utd fans regard City as lottery winners. Don’t really care about their accomplishments.

Not surprised to see Matic, Lukaku, Martial and Dalot benched after last week.

If he's still a starter next season we have no ambition at all. Well past it.
