Can't think of many games in English football I'm less interested in, sorry KK

Random stat burst - Liverpool's current 88 point total would've been enough to win the Premier League on 14 of the previous 26 seasons. If they win another game, they'd have enough points to have won the league on all but four occasions(1993/94, 2004/05, 2016/17 and 2017/18. 99/00 would've come down to goal difference). If they win out and don't win the league, as may very well happen, the only season they wouldn't have sailed off with the title is last season.

United also won it with 75 points once too, a total that City and Liverpool must have amassed by like September or something.

I do wonder if there's correlation between points totals and a "proper" title race. This is is the first time in a while that we've had two teams who are almost even with a few games left. A title race hasn't really happened that much recently when you think about it. Even with Leicester and Spurs, it was Spurs hoping to play catch up by this point. In most recent seasons it's sort of been a foregone conclusion by March.

The only two races I can really remember in the past 8 or 9 seasons have been the United/City one with the famous Aguero goal and City/Liverpool with Gerrard's slip. In my head, nothing really stands out in the years before then either, as United and Chelsea seemed to win them comfortably. Wonder if it's an Arsenal/United one before that.

Man Utd and Chelsea in 2008, where Man Utd had to go to Wigan away to win on the final day was close. There were only four points separating the top three that season. Arsenal sort of collapsed after the Eduardo injury at Birmingham. 08/09 was another close one between Liverpool and Man Utd.

2010 was close and I think Chelsea had Wigan at home this time on the final day which they won easily. 2011 was another close one, I know we won it by 9 points but that Chelsea game at Old Trafford was crucial towards the end of the season. If they had won that they probably could have won it.

Even 06/07 was a nervy title race for me, I thought we would throw it away as Joses Chelsea were a machine back then but luckily for us they were drawing a lot of games.

Now what sort of team would think they can win the title with a lot of draws.

Foolish. :slol:

I wondered that - there was a season where I think Chelsea got 93 points and the next best team only made it to the low 70s, but other than that when there's a high points total there's usually another team fairly close by.

That’s why it’s the fastest really. As they didn’t take kick off, the ball didn’t go back into the Southampton half first. It’ll only be broken in similar circumstances or someone shooting and scoring straight.

What's the fastest ever goal? I'm going to guess somewhere between 2 and 3 seconds.

Honorary Manu fan today. So erm...

Ole's at the wheel and Moyes got the job on a technicality!

Right?

Did you catch 5Live before the game last night? Ian Wright absolutely tore into Chris Hughton, I was quite surprised because that's not usually the sort of commentator that Wright is.

It’s win win for you tonight. If Man U win/draw then it helps you. If Man U lose then you can call them useless bastards and hate them even more.

A few weeks ago I would have quite fancied Man U to win as they were on such a good run of form, but that’s deserted them. But it is a derby so who knows?!

Annoying that there isn't a Match of the Day tonight, again.
