Rooney has a booze problem. Could have easily been playing in the premier league still if he looked after himself. But him boozing about has been going on for past 5 years or so.

Anyway Madrid lost. Solari won’t last another month. I don’t think it’s the managers fault. The squad is a bit shocking especially in the attacking third for a big team. Benzema hasn’t done anything for a few years now. Bale is always injured and when he plays is terrible. Hazard alone isn’t going to change that.

I don't watch Spanish football at all really, but I have this (quite ill-informed judging by the start of this post!) feeling that Benzema has a bit of a coasting attitude. Arsenal went after him a couple of years ago (I think it was the summer of Suarez, Cavani, Higuain et al) and I remember thinking that a player happy to stay being the worst player in the Madrid front three rather than go somewhere like Arsenal as a likely record signing and be the focal point of an attack must either be low on self belief, low on desire, or just be happy to mill around like a sub goalkeeper collecting the cash and medals. I might be being really unfair to him, but it seems he has a nice little rut.

Yeah, you're being a tad unfair to him there. Benzema has done some questionable things in the past that really bring question to his character as a person, but as a footballer, he's certainly not coasted at Marid. He may not have been the focal of the attack but over his 10 years at Madrid his work rate and positional sense, drawing defenders out and creating space, allowed the likes of Ronaldo to excel. He was a vital cog in the Madrid attack in a lot of his time there-it's not like he's been sitting on the bench like a sub goalkeeper at all.

It's probably time for him to move on though and he has definitely been a lot more ineffective the last few seasons.

He needs to move on. I think he could do well for a new team.

Madrid have scored 26 goals so far. If they carry on their form they’d be getting just above 50 goals this season.

It just goes to show how invaluable Ronaldo was to them. All the talk about Modric. But Real Madrid would never have won any of those champions league without Ronaldo. There was stupid talk that he was holding back Bale and Benzema. Well he clearly wasn’t they just haven’t been good enough.

I always felt it was crazy business selling Ronaldo and not replacing him with anybody. Obviously you can’t just go out buy one player to replace him. You’d need to add a few goal sources to your attack. Madrid didn’t do any of that. Hazard alone isn’t going to sort their attack out. He’s already playing with donkeys at Chelsea and they not free scoring.

Ramos, Modric and Marcelo aren’t getting any younger too. The squad is going to need some serious rework over the next few years. Can see Madrid having a few more years where they don’t look like challenging for La Liga.

Rooney has had a booze and cigs problem since he was 16. I think he didn't realise his full potential, in a similar way to Paul Gascoine. I'd say he'll probably turn out like Gazza too.
