A scuffed result on Saturday but a win none the less, now 10 days off, looks like Gomez, TAA and Lovren will all be back for next match.

Missing plane: Cardiff FC concern for Emiliano Sala

There is "genuine concern" Premier League footballer Emiliano Sala was on a flight missing off Alderney.

The Piper Malibu with two people on board disappeared from radar near the Casquets lighthouse at about 20:30 GMT on Monday, Guernsey Police said.

The plane was travelling from Nantes in France to Cardiff.

A coastguard rescue helicopter and crews from Alderney and Guernsey RNLI joined the search in the area around the lighthouse.

HM Coastguard said the disappearance was not in the UK search and rescue area, but it had sent two helicopters to help.

A spokeswoman said they were assisting Guernsey Coastguard with a search for a light aircraft off Alderney: "HM Coastguard helicopters from Solent and Newquay have been helping to search overnight with nothing found."

Just signed for £15m from Nantes.

Not looking good, unfortunately:

Premier League footballer Emiliano Sala was on a light aircraft which disappeared over the Channel Islands, the French Civil Aviation authority has confirmed.

The Argentine striker was one of two people on board the Piper Malibu which went missing off Alderney in the Channel Islands on Monday night.
Cardiff City had signed the 28-year-old for £15m from French club Nantes.

Guernsey Police said the Cardiff-bound aircraft has not been found.

It left Nantes at 19:15 and had been flying at 5,000ft when it contacted Jersey air traffic control requesting descent, the force said.

Sala - born in Argentina, made in France
The plane lost contact while at 2,300ft.

Sightings of red flares were reported during a lifeboat and helicopter search, but "nothing of significance was found", a Channel Islands Air Search spokeswoman said.

Really depressing news, you know he would've been absolutely pumped to be getting to play in the Premier League and suddenly it's all over.

Very sad story.

Obviously this isnt important, but I wonder what happens with the transfer fee? Do teams have insurance for this kind of thing?

One would assume so with insurance, though given the situation who knows what would happen in that regard...

Apparently there's a lifeboat on the way to some potential debris but unconfirmed if related to this... Would be nothing short of a miracle if anyone got out of this one alive...

Who'd have thought that throwing a former player into a relegation battle despite having zero managerial experience wouldn't work out?

No managerial experience? He's literally on loan from Molde!
