Nantes demand transfer fee from Cardiff City for Emiliano Sala

• Body of Argentine striker still yet to be recovered
• Nantes threaten legal action over non-payment of fee

...

From Cardiff’s point of view, the priority is to establish all the facts around the tragedy. There is no suggestion that the Welsh club will not meet their contractual obligations, but at the moment there is a desire and determination to gather all the relevant information first – and that could mean waiting until an official investigation is completed.

So classy of Nantes :dread:

They sold him because they needed the money and they have every right to demand the cash if a contract was signed as Cardiff wouldn't have made the transfer if they weren't already prepared with the funds. That said you can't blame Cardiff for wanting to cover their own backs either by waiting for the documentation.
It may seem unethical but Nates have a right to the money, as do the clubs who they had transfer clauses with (50% of the sale goes to Bordeaux).

Looking at it coldly, Cardiff should pay.

But looking at it from a sense of decency, Nantes should give them a break and not chase them up for some time.

It goes without saying that I love the guy but I really REALLY hope PP has read the article which includes his Brexit opinions, which he delivers with incredible simplicity.

I read it, he makes his points elegantly without being condescending or accusing leavers of being massive racists like some do Photek.

Why haven't you left the forum? you said your were going to about 12 times and pretty much slagged everyone off in the forum who disagree's with you so keep your word and do one, ta.

Firstly I didn't 'slag everybody off that disagreed with me'. Secondly I had my view and one or two people got upset and started accusing me of being racist and essentially just barraged me with abuse to which when reported (something I've never felt the need to do in the eleven years I've been on this forum) to a present mod was essentially dismissed as if I had deserved it, another mod then took it upon himself to wade into the thread and show off in a mocking post aimed at me for reporting the allegation of racism (Karl)- that is what pissed me off. I am not here to staunchly defend my stance or attack another for their views. I will not be called a racist though and if certain moderators on here think that is fair game then they've let themselves down massively. I and others can now apparently lower our bar and say whatever we like. That's the standard nowadays apparently. Kudos to Albear for actually doing his job the following day.

I came on here to post about the Sala/Nantes transfer situation but as soon as I logged in today who's posted a response to me telling me to do one? Oh Photek. Maybe you need to realize it's posters like you that dragged this place down over time, your behaviour was tolerated and tolerated and tolerated and before long decent members like Bear have disappeared.

So back on topic now I've dealt with the forum prick. I don't understand why the transfer fee isn't given to the families of Sala and the pilot. It seems like the decent thing to do but even bringing it up whilst they're still trying to retrieve the bodies is just really poor from Nantes.

Pretty much this. Very insensitive of Nantes.

Why do you care if he does his job? Both of you have been here long enough. No need to turn this place toxic. There’s no need to hurl insults at each other or tell the other person to leave. Just ignore each other if you can’t stand each other.

PP you should have replied to Photek in the brexit thread or PM. I don’t wanna hear talk about Brexit or Trump for that matter in this thread because it’s everywhere I go and both things are depressing. Photek you should have originally posted those Klopp quotes on Brexit in the Brexit thread. If PP is a Brexit supporter then whatever, I don’t agree with it but I’m not going to bring it up in the football thread to score brownie points. He’s been a original member since 2008 and was most likely on gamesradar for a length of time before that. So if people did call him racist like he is claiming as I read bits of the thread then I disagree. He’s been a member for so long that something like that would have been picked up a long time ago.

Anyway onto Sala. Why do Cardiff have to pay those stupid banana split agents? I read somewhere Sala wasn’t sure about moving to Cardiff. He was upset last summer because he wanted to play champions league football with Galatasery. He wasn’t too sure about a move to Cardiff and took a week to decide. So the agents probably told him to as they would have benefited from the move.

I do think it’s a bit funny from Nantes to ask for payment. Let them find the body first. Cardiff are due £15m from insurance. But they also do have the right to ask why Sala was on a helicopter that struggled to start 3 times and who actually owns the helicopter. The agents should get strawberry float all. Cardiff and Nantes should give the contract that was due to Sala to his family.

Would have thought there was an insurance policy in place.

There's a lot of things PP and PES have said above that are infuriatingly incorrect, I didn't call anyone racist and bear left cos of how I was treated by mods, a quick search for bear's last comments would show this but I guess facts are something that eludes us even in here. (I'm not posting any more on it but I feel I have to put things right with baseless accusations flying around)

Back onto football type stuff, they found a body in that plane and have it ready for autopsy, I wonder who it is.

I imagine almost 2 weeks underwater will have left it extremely difficult to identify :(

With DNA it should be easy but could be time consuming.

Grim to think about, but makes you wonder where the other body is. They could never find it.

Urgh, so horrible.

Sala has a lot of tattoo work on his body - you would *think* that some of it is still identifiable in the worst case, but I don’t know what two weeks underwater would do to someone’s skin. Either way, they’ll know more once they’ve done the autopsy.
