Just weird that a domination of a team who clearly gave up at 3-0 against a team who don't tend to just sit back anymore once in the driving seat would set up a call for an European Super League when usually the media is very much against the idea...

Huh?

Those German paper leaks started in January, so I’m sure there were some articles.

When Roman came to Chelsea it wasn’t really fair. But with Roman he had a limit as even though he’s super rich he can’t afford to lose another billion.

City are on a different scale. They run by a corrupt state with basically unlimited money. They can cheat all they want and create up fake sponsorships whilst they at it. Whenever they win a trophy it’s like nobody really cares. They broken nearly every record but it will never be comparable to the 99 treble or invincibles. I’d say the same for PSG, but atleast the PSG fans make noise when they win something...

I liked Kompany though, but sad he he has to say gooseberry fool like Sheikh Mansour changed his life. He usually speaks a lot of sense especially when it comes to politics.

From that Guardian article
Bayern’s latest Bundesliga title means for the first time in history, the league title in each of Europe’s big five leagues has been retained

Surprised that's never happened before.

The article in question suggests that because of Man City's domination of Watford in the Cup Final (where at 3-0 the heads visibly dropped from the Watford players and City kept playing) means there's more suggestion of a Super League coming into existence...

My question of this lies in what was the opinion of this after City had lost 3 games around Christmas and New Year and were 7 points behind Liverpool... Didn't seem to be an issue of competition at that point...

The Super League idea is generally and usually criticised by our media, but one game between the best in country and a team who ended in awful form means it will/should happen?

The stuff regarding FFP and the nature of City's cash flow is a separate aspect to the issues in question, but there's always been the case of clubs with far bigger budgets than others... Just happens that City's is pretty dirty...

I think Celtic won the league in Scotland as well.

Oh sorry, we’ll stick to talking about Celctic in that case. :(

My problem with City is the ridiculous net spend.

In the last 10 years the top 7 net spend is:
Man City - 1.08Bn
Manu - 600m
Chelsea - 350m
Liverpool - 300m
Arsenal - 266m
Everton - 215m
Spurs - 125m

My problem with city is that they haven't needed to cheat but have done so anyway. If the financial shenanigans are true - then their achievements are tainted as far as I'm concerned. They would probably have been successful anyway but we'll never know.
If they really wanted to send a message. They'd deduct points and give the title to Liverpool.

They don't have the balls for that. Sadly.

My problem with City is that they didn't beat Spurs in the champions league.

You're talking about a PL punishment but PL FFP rules and UEFA FFP rules are not the same thing.

The PL rules are not as tough as UEFA's and basically just require clubs to manage losses up to a point. And Man City have been posting a "profit" for the last 4 years. I say "profit" because there's obviously a lot of creative accounting going on which is what the UEFA FFP is adjusting for and holding them to account for. I don't believe PL rules do that in the same way so a PL punishment isn't really going to be in the frame here.

They'll be looking at big fines or bans from the CL.

If Man city are banned from the champions League does that mean that arsenal will get there spot?

Doubtful that if any ban is applied it will be for next season. Time needs to be allocated for appeals and so on.

With the prem tv money being thrown around there shouldn’t be a need for money excuses. Spurs have shown that. You get the right manager and have the right scouting network then it is possible to be successful in the premier league. If you going to hire the same old managers and spend next to little of that Tv money then you won’t be doing anything. I don’t know much about Potter, but I was hoping Brighton would go leftfield for someone like Bielsa. Would have been a great addition to the prem and he’s too good for Leeds. Obviously with Bielsa it tends to end in tears, but that’s the case with nearly every manager. Would like to see him in the prem obviously not with Leeds though.

We have spent big but it hasn’t guaranteed us any success. But I’d say that net spend Photek posted for Man Utd is skewed as we lost in the past decade Giggs, Scholes, Rooney, Vidic, Evra, Rio, Van Persie, Carrick, Fletcher and some other players for next to nothing. So we clearly had to spend to replace these players, but we haven’t spent it wisely. City don’t really have that excuse. They just lost Kompany and Toure as the two key players. Also I’d accept them giving a points deduction to City for 17/18 season because that’s when the cheating started. They should give them like 20 points for that season alone.

Also Benzin nobody I know wants a super league. The premier league is fine as it is just like the champions league. Both formats shouldn’t be changed. Super league is just stupid, I don’t wanna play Barca or Madrid every year. Not like we will any time soon, but those sort of matches should be special matches. It just takes away from the occasion when you play them every year.

No, there is a special sub-clause in the UEFA Constitution that says that when a place is up for grabs it must by law be given to brave Man United, heroes of England and slayers of giants, in order to protect the moral fibre of the competition. Everyone knows that.

Spurs finished 27pts behind City, (26 behind Liverpool).

So, who fancies signing a £600k-a-week injury prone Welsh golfer that sometimes plays for Real Madrid?
