Standard from the Sun. I was really interested to recently discover that Liverpool players aren't allowed any social media interaction with the S*n at all, even if it's refuting bullshit stories that the toilet-paper rag propagates. One of my friends plays for the ladies team and was told to remove something she'd retweeted that involved the paper. It makes perfect sense, but I found it interesting to hear it's an actual rule at the club.

Don't worry Wayne, the girl clearly wasn't in her 70s so we know it wasn't real.

Should be a rule for all UK residents, enshrined in law.

Also, I read a stat that Jesse Lingard has fewer assists in the last 6 years than Adam Johnson. The same Adam Johnson who spent 3 of those 6 years in prison

I haven't checked that mind you.

He did - 49 for Swansea and only 42 for Liverpool!

Yeah that stat goes around a lot on social media-but Lingard was actually only playing regularly for 4 of those seasons.

If you look at the time properly, Johnson has 11 assists from 62 starts/25 sub appearances and Lingard has 10 from 76 starts/34 sub appearances. Obviously Johnson's are better but in fairness to Lingard, it's not nearly as bad as the stat makes out and the only grooming he worries about is for himself.

No assists or goals in 2019 (the year, not the season) is a very poor return for an attacking midfielder who regularly plays for one of the (allegedly) biggest teams in the world. He wouldn't get a game at any of the other top 6 teams, he is just bang average but gets defended because he's a local lad and an academy graduate. If he was foreign he'd have been sold a long time ago.

Saw a good one the other day, Bruno Fernandes provided more assists in 90 minutes than Lingard has since December.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Yeah I still can't fathom why United didn't get him this summer, he would have improved the midfield immeasurably. But nah, Woodward knows best :fp:

Apparently Chris/Mike Smalling is off to Roma on a season-long loan. I never thought I'd see the day when one of the chuckle brothers got the boot, what a time to be alive :o

But who will talkSPORT turn to now for wildly incorrect opinions and mean-spirited jingoism?

What an idiot.

Reporting like this always annoys me though - "Former Liverpool striker"? He played nearly three times as many games for Villa as he did Liverpool, in fact he played more games for 8 separate clubs than he did for Liverpool!

(sorry, just suffering from small club syndrome! )

I think he played for all 4 divisions of the league in one season! (Not 100% sure, but he definitely played for 3 and was due to transfer/loan to the 4th team right near the end, but not sure it happened).

EDIT: Just checked wiki and it says this didn't happen! Ha, not sure who i'm thinking of though.

EDIT 2: Tony Cottee! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 246988.stm

A little surprised about Chris Smalling today but are we on a short of defenders? :dread:

And I have to say Lingard has to go and he’s been strawberry floating useless for the squad. He doesn’t contribute much into the team at all.

Lingard has somehow made it into the England squad for the qualifiers as well. :|

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

Press Gazette wrote:Image

Four Four Two editor-in-chief James Brown has left the football magazine after less than six months, having returned to editing for the role.

Brown, widely considered a key player of the “lads’ mag” era, joined the monthly Future Publishing title on 11 March 2019.

He spoke to Press Gazette about his plans for digital growth and moving on from Four Four Two’s “old fashioned tendency” to focus on print after his first month in the editor’s chair.

Brown said he had not planned on returning to magazines and was in self-imposed retirement when he saw the role advertised and was enticed to return, saying it seemed like the “perfect job”.

He has now quietly left the company and Future began advertising for a replacement today.

Brown began his career at NME before launching Loaded in 1994. He went on to edit GQ for two years and then launched now-defunct men’s magazine Jack, which closed in 2004.

In the past decade he has acted as a media consultant to brands including the Mail on Sunday, helped to launch The New European newspaper, and runs creative agency Sabotage.

Four Four Two is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and marked its 300th issue in May.

Brown and Future did not respond to requests for comment.

Well that relationship sure didn't last long. Anyone here ever read it?

The faces in the crowd

As flies to wanton boys, we are for the gods. They kill us for the sport. Soon the science will not only be able to slow down the ageing of the cells. Science will fix the cells to the state and so we become eternal. Only accidents, crimes, wars will still kill us, but unfortunately crimes and wars will multiply. I love football.

I was about to say move over to all of you, then I checked and it turns out he had 6 more appearances for Villa than Derby :x.
