personally, I am happy we got Cedric from Southampton, no risk signing who we can get on a free in the summer if he does well. and gets maitland-niles away from right back and back into midfield.

I have to say, Deadline Day holds very little excitement as a Liverpool fan, especially since FSG, we just sign who we need and rarely scramble about on final day. When we sell players we let others do that hence the £70m net spend in the past 4 years.

I think Cedric is a decent player tbh.

That's pretty amazing really. I was looking at the 5year netts, and we average £18.5M per season - 4th lowest in the league (ignoring Sheff U and Norwich).

The City (£101M/yr), Man U (£76M/yr) and Everton  (£55M/yr) are way ahead.

I guess that was a relatively successful window for United in the end. They got a quality midfielder that should make a big difference (if he doesn't catch the United shite virus) and a proper striker that'll provide some respite for Rashford and/or Martial.

Hopefully in the summer they can get another 3 or 4 positions reinforced and then Ole (or Poch :shifty: ) will have a decent squad to work with.

Yeah I think it's successful window for United and they loaned a Nigerian striker which surprised me. Let's see how it goes after the winter break.

That battle for the 4th spot could get very spicy between now and the end of the season. Would love Sheffield or Wolves to make a surge for it, here’s hoping they can close the gap today. Obviously want Spurs to win tomorrow but would rather anyone of the top 8 to get it above them.

Very good full back when he’s at his best.

Could do a lot worse.

Well we sounded pretty poor today, especially in the first half but I’ll definitely take the 3 points! Crazy to think we could be challenging for 5th come the end of the season, wouldn’t surprise me if we drop off a bit though and Man Utd ultimately it over us and Wolves.

The LiVARpool types on twitter are going into meltdown and it's hilarous  I'm starting to feel weirdly sympathetic to those United fans in the 90's/ 00's who had to put up with similar hysterical conspiracy bullshit :shifty:

I always wondered if Jermaine Jenas was biased when he covers Liverpool on BT score because in the few games I couldn’t watch he claimed Liverpool got lucky every time.

I had the Liverpool match on live here and although there was pressure for last 20mins in the first half, it was pretty 50/50 overall, put it on BT score and there’s JJ claiming Southampton should be 2up. Utter nonsense.

Then just before Liverpool’s goal Ings had a claim for a Peno, he stumbles and is slightly caught, it’s a hard call either way. JJ is fuming and claims it’s a nailed on peno, went back to match, we get second, put BT back on and he’s back talking about the penalty shout, we score third and JJ is saying it’s one of the strangest 3-0 games he’s ever seen. Says the same thing when it ends 4-0. The guys a strawberry floating idiot.

For what it's worth, Glen Johnson on Sky said that Liverpool were second best until they got their first goal, but that after they scored Southampton were never going to get back into it. Said Southampton played the better football throughout.

The lack of self awareness in football fans is amazing really, especially up here.

The best example I can think of is that during Rangers' 9-in-a-row run in the 1980s and 1990s Celtic supporters were derided as conspiracy nuts, believing the referee, the establishment, the newspapers and all the rest of it were out to specifically stop Celtic from winning the league. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, Rangers supporters seem to have gone down the same route. The club boycott the BBC, journalists are all hardcore Celtic supporters, etc etc.

The only thing now is, that without a hint of irony a fair group of Celtic supporters still scream conspiracy whenever a decision doesn't go their way. Bad decision in a Glasgow derby? It's the conspiracy - they need to stop us getting the ten. Rangers draw 0-0 with Aberdeen? It's a conspiracy, they're just trying to help them get to ten!

Well I watched it and while Southampton played well, they didn’t open up Liverpool bar that last 20mins in first half and the penalty shout at start of second, I’ve no problem with people bigging up the underdogs but the “the strangest 4-0 I’ve ever seen”? They had barely any chances in the second half and we scored 4... like... what?

Liverpool deserved to win, massively so. JJ made it sound like we scraped a win against the run of play which is miles off. Also, Salah got a goal chalked off for Offside in VAR so no idea why people are pushing this conspiracy.

This is such a low quality game, passes going astray, defenders stumbling around, attacks feebly breaking down. With Chelsea drawing and having a tough run of fixtures coming up one of these should really be going all out for the win.

Edit: I know people role their eyes at arbitrary displays of pashun, but with 10 minutes left to play and the win their for the taking should Oli not be on the touch line.

How did VAR not give anything for a goalkeeper punching someone in the face  . Seems especially weird when any player dares challenge for a ball that a goalkeeper is going for its nearly always given as a foul.

What has happened to City this season? They're like Arsenal under Wenger!

6 wins from 13 games!

City have conceded the same number of goals as United this season.

It can't be that simple! Tough player to replace even if they went out and tried but the decision not to was clearly a big mistake.
