Andy Carroll back at Newcastle! :o

The bar has been set pretty low but this feels like one of the best transfer deadline days in ages.

With the sale of Lukaku that puts our net spend for this window at 66M. Given the players needed that's strawberry floating miserly.

I'm thinking Liverpool will win the Champions League again and the FA Cup but be relegated.
Would that still count as a good season?
The upside is they could then storm the Championship next season :shifty: .

All the talk last season of having a director of football. Of appointing someone with football nous to plan transfer strategy collaboratively and what do we have? Half a strawberry floating job done.

Livid.

I didn’t think I’d see Arsenal have a more successful transfer window than Manu.

Both had better than Liverpool tho.

Glad to see the back of Lukaku, decent goalscorer against mid/low-end sides but largely hopeless against bigger teams and an all-round poor footballer with dreadful movement and one of the worst first-touches I've seen. I'm amazed we managed to recoup most of our initial outlay for a guy who has been hopeless for about 18 months. I've heard people say that our attack is weaker, yet we played better without Lukaku last season and I'd expect to see Greenwood, James and Chong featuring a lot more. I'm confident the players already there can pick up the slack and replace Lukaku's 12 Premier League goals from last season.

So disappointing though that after making some really good signings to bolster and rebuild our defence that we've failed to carry it through to midfield. Can't believe we're starting the season with Pogba (who doesn't want to be at the club), Matic (who is finished) and McTominay/Pereira/Fred who are all far from proven or established. Two quality midfield signings and I'd have been confident of us making Top 4 - didn't need to be big names but Tielemans was attainable (and supposedly wanted a United move) and I'm sure we could have got someone like Doucoure or Ruben Neves for a decent fee. Going to be a tough season again and I think 4th would be an absolute best case scenario.

I wouldn't make that a better window than ours. Ours was not good enough for our needs but its favourably comparable in quality to Arsenal's I would say.

Only good thing about this window is our defence should be alot better this season. If Maguire and Lindelof get a good partnership going it should help De Gea being the one man defence that he has been the past 5 years.

Just hope the new tactics Ole will employ will work. Aim this season is Champions League qualification, might be the same as a few years ago and our best chance for that to happen is to win the Europa League.

Arsenal did well all considered, they've needed a good winger for years and got that in Pepe. Fleeced Everton for Iwobi at £40M if it went through. Luiz is better than he's given credit for, wasn't expensive and will slot in well as the ball playing CB alongside Sokratis. Tierney and Ceballos look like smart moves.

City did well, didn't need much but added real quality. Also reckon Sarr will do well at Watford.

Kept Zaha, whether he's happy or not is another matter...

However, the lack of cover on the full backs and a season of relying on the firepower if Benteke and Ayew, with glass knee Wickham is worrying...

Gonna be a long season...

This could be good:

I don't have the time / inclination to watch MOTD these days, and even though it'll probably only be a 3-5 minute video, that's better than just catching the goals on streamable. Guess it'll be similar to the EFL highlights videos they put out as well, which are decent enough.

Apparently Leicester swooped in with a £20m bid for a Celtic midfielder yesterday and we’re greeted with a phone call from Dermot Desmond telling them to strawberry float off.

Looking forward to finally getting back to the Prem tonight.

I'm on a night shift as well, so the perfect thing to do for two hours.

:( . The "incidents" must be pretty serious for two players to be removed from the squad.
