Was at my son's birthday party so couldn't check a lot, but it sounded like we didn't click but got an away win and a clean sheet so happy days!

Chelsea - yeeesh :dread:

Don't get carried away. Steve Bruce is the worst manager in the league and this is Newcastle's season to be relegated.

Season ticket holder for ten years, and Mike Ashley's team has finally driven me away. I actually want to be relegated and stay down, until that worthless leech leaves.

What's the point of any sport if you don't even want to compete?

It's easier (and more profitable) to yo-yo between the leagues. And that's clearly his plan (like many others in that position).

Plus we get 3pm Saturday games here. Add in the Scottish FA cup, Series A, Ere division and MLS for some more. It’s quite something.

NFL and Red Zone coming early September, Rugby WC too plus the small matter of Dublins ‘drive for five’ (All Ireland’s in a row - unprecedented) and I’m in sporting heaven.

If you're the result of all that exposure to footie on TV - I'm glad it's prohibitively expensive for everyone else.

Does anyone have a link about what's going on at Bury, and why the EFL isn't letting them play games, but is letting Bolton.

They both had the same deadline to demonstrate evidence of financial viability.

Bolton did, Bury didn’t.

Cluj are a disgrace of a club.

Hate games like this. The other team scoring a jammy goal and time wasting after half an hour, referee buying every dive and refusing to book any opposition players for their persistent, dangerous fouling.

Edit: strawberry float me silly.

Can imagine you be must be gutted, was hoping you’d at least make the group stage. What are your thoughts on Lennon as manager?

Not that it’ll alleviate your disappointment in the slightest but the chant for Edouard is an absolute belter

He can strawberry float off as far as I'm concerned after playing a £20m rated attacking midfielder at LB.

The owner of Bury has been the stumbling block. There have been rumours he wants to cynically sell the land from under the club but he's also had serious health issues so that has obviously been a factor. It now looks like he may be agreeing to sell in time for them to satisfy the EFL and avoid being booted out. They are local to me so its been of some interest. You don't like to see any club go under.

The staff of Bury essentially put out an official statement yesterday (or the day before) begging him to accept an offer on the club. They have another eight or nine days to prove financial viability and subsequently have games scheduled, or they will be expelled from the league.

We can confirm that today we have received an offer for the sale of Bury Football Club, one that we all at the Club believe is a very good offer.

This offer has been conveyed to Steve Dale and we are still waiting to hear from him.

This offer is the only lifeline for the future of the Club and we implore Steve Dale to accept it, as it has the full backing of all of the senior staff at Bury FC.

This is the utter shit-show of a statement released by the chairman a few days prior:

The Chairman has issued the following statement after the Accrington Stanley game was postponed by the EFL:

BURY FOOTBALL CLUB HAVE BEEN TONIGHT DEALT A GRAVE INJUSTICE.

I today have seen the biggest injustice I have ever seen from this alleged body there to help clubs “the EFL.”

Again after submitting all that was asked from the EFL from our Lawyer, we got a call late tonight saying they are postponing our fixture with Accrington Stanley.

Grounds given to our Lawyer from Nick Craig “we want to substantiate some figures that may or may not be correct” we requested what these were as we could answer them there and then, the reply “we will get them to you as soon as we can but we are all at matches this weekend” and so would Bury fans if the EFL played with a straight bat.

Why did they not wait till Monday to again postpone our fixture if something was missing, we have the weekend to get any information to them, but no once again they prove they are clearly “The Destroyer of Clubs” where malice and vindictive actions take precedence over the whole premise of the EFL TO HELP CLUBS.

Let me list below the requirements sent from there Solicitor which we had to comply with, facts in bold, I do this to prevent ambiguity.

1.) Confirmation and evidence that all outstanding sums due to players will (or have been) paid in full to the satisfaction of the EFL and the PFA; THE PFA CONFIRMED TO THE EFL THAT THIS HAD BEEN AGREED TO THE SATISFACTION OF BOTH PARTIES.

2.) Receipt of written evidence of a bank account with £1.5m in it or a guaranteed line of credit for this amount freely available to the Club (and not any third party) which will allow the Club to operate in the 2019/2020 season; A LETTER OF CREDIT WAS GIVEN TODAY FOR £1.65M.

3.) A certificate/email confirming that the SAG has approved that the Stadium is fit for purpose and that all the necessary plans are in place for the 2019/2020 season; THEY WERE DONE BEFORE THEIR LAST STATEMENT.

ALL THE ABOVE I CAN PROVE AND BACK UP 100%.

I could've gone into the ill truths last time, that tried to discredit me and can disprove any allegations about me, but this beats them all, the deal was struck with our Lawyer and we were just waiting for them to say all is good so we can sign our players who 100% want to play for Bury and have waited patiently, the EFL are aware these players will have to sign elsewhere and seem to be dragging this out till we lose them as nobody expected us to save Bury never mind get players signing of the calibre we have so clearly there is an agenda here, I was told tonight by Debbie Jevans when I said just let us sign our team please before we lose them, the reply “you can play with your youth”, I REST MY CASE.

Regards,

Steven D Dale

The prevailing opinion is that he's a banana split tbh. He bought the club for a pound I think and hasn't invested anything like what he originally promised. If head the clubs best interests he would have sold at the end of last season. By delaying and delaying he has caused this situation.

The absolute state of that second statement. How people like that get to the position of owning a football club is beyond me.

Did Klopp sign Adrian purely for the opportunity to do that?

He didn't even have to pass it:

Many admonish the EFL for taking a hardline stance after approving Dale’s takeover, but as his ownership began mid-season, he didn't have to pass the ‘fit and proper person’ test and now runs the club entirely on his own.
