Most of y’all will remember me prattling on about Darren Bent living in my apartment building when he was at Blunderland, shared a lift once or twice, bit banta, nods in the corridor.

One of the most creative chants I've heard in Scottish football was when he was at Hearts to the tune of a Manic Street Preachers song - "If you tolerate Rix, then your children will be next"

That’s brilliant but obviously not the situation.

It’s why I have low self esteem today.

If you're getting desperate for football the A-League is on BT Sport just now - Brisbane against Newcastle. Scott McDonald ( ) has scored the only goal of the game so far.

I've cheated on the meeting footballers front as I was mascot many moons ago. Clinton Morrison had one of the worst suits ever.

I met Matt le Tissier at a work show a few years ago as he (and a few other England related stars) were appearing on the Vauxhall stand.

Think I've met a few older Palace people when proper young. Steve Coppell and John Salako for sure.

Other than at open top bus parades, I don’t think I have met any footballers other than Wayne Allison. While at Bristol City he was going out with a lady that lived in my street. Nice guy from what I remember, we were horrible kids and he never told us to strawberry float off.

I met former St. Mirren and Crystal Palace midfielder Andy Dorman after a Major League Soccer match in Boston a few years back. Lovely bloke - he spotted my brother's Blackburn top and made a point of coming up for a chat. Turns out his mum is from there.

I'm not sure what I was expecting from this but it was one of the worst games of football I've ever watched. Bizarre amount of Celtic/Blackburn alumni involved in the match too - McDonald and Joe Ledley playing on opposite sides, Kenny Miller coaching Newcastle, Robbie Fowler managing Brisbane and Premier League winner Robbie Slater on commentary.

I met Des Walker in a pub once. I was more than a little pissed and probably made myself look a twat. But it was Des strawberry floating Walker and he's a god amongst footballers. Also, Steve Chettle lives just around the corner from me and I still have the urge to call him shovel foot. Doesn't look like the sort to laugh it off though so I've refrained.

I went to school with a guy who made 300 appearances for Brechin City. Last I heard he was a bus driver.

Have you ever met a footballer?

Alan Hansen - About 1990. Was playing football in park and some bloke with about 3 kids ask if they could join in. Didnt recognise at first, but at the end of the game it was about 50 a side as other kids join in. I skinned him for pace down the left and passed it through his legs to score a goal.

Paul Dalglish - About 1993. On the library computers at college, guy next to me asks me how to log in. I said - "type your name in here". Then i double taked. He looked like his dad.

Ryan Giggs - About 1996. In the Hacienda. He was by himself with pretty much no one around him. Just having a beer, standing on the balcony watching the crowd.

Most of the Man utd team - 1999 after they had won the champions league. In a bar in Castlefield which ive forgotten what its called. Neville brothers, Ronny Johnsen, were the ones making the most noise from what i remember. Went for a piss next to Nicky Butt. He was really short and skinny, and no i didnt look.

Dwight Yorke - about 2000 in a club on Canal St. I remember him constantly grinning like the cheshire cat.

Mark Lawrenson - about 3 years ago. Crossed the road in front of me with his daughter on their bikes. I didnt appreciate their green cross code.
