Yes, because Alex McLeish won the Champions League for Birmingham City

My point is that the most of fans of Aston Villa didn’t really give him a chance. They relish it when he got sacked.

I can’t see Everton fans acting differently towards Rafa. And the board doesn’t seem to care. Tottenham fans protested when Gattuso could become their new manager and Levy dropped their interest in him.

Fair while ago this Drummy but when Steve Coppell ended up at Brighton what was the fan response?

Some fans just won't see beyond a certain point unfortunately. Rafa is the big name style manager the Everton owners want so they'll go ahead with it regardless.

What's Steve Kean up to these days?

Yeah? I thought most skunk fans worshipped him. Seemed to do well enough…better than those nuggets down the road :shifty:

Initially bullish, but performances picked up after a while and he won the fans over. He joined when we were on a massive losing streak, bottom of the table (by a distance) and relegation was a certainty if nothing changed. Ultimately we were relegated on the final day of that season, though I'd like to think our supporters don't blame Coppell for it.

Everton fans have banners outside goodison calling him fat and to f*** off plus another in his neighbourhood saying they know were he lives - don't sign.... It's a small minority but jesus, calm the fook down.

Yeah.

The only concern I have is that will it have a negative effect on the team?

Yes, but that wasn't because he managed Birmingham City. It was because he was strawberry floating rubbish.

Villa had Bruce before Dean Smith, Birmingham manager for 6 years at start of 2000s. Dont think they had a big issue with him.

Don’t we usually start a new season thread when the fixtures are announced?

Didn't look like anyone else was going to step up so I've done the new thread - if anyone feels strongly about wanting to be the thread owner this season just let me know and I'll ask a mod to transfer it.

Mods - lock this bad boy up :toot:
