Yeah long term managers and the Premier League aren't really a thing any more. Or ever really, if you remove the outliers like Wenger and Ferguson there aren't really many who manage to stick around for a long time.

Sean Dyche has been at Burnley since 2012, but he's the longest-serving PL manager.

Yeah and it drops quickly after Dyche. Klopp is the only one with more than 5 years, then Wilder and Guardiola on 4 years, Santo and Hodgson on 3 years before you get into the real short termers.

It's telling how casual the relationship with managers is these days when I feel like Villa's Dean Smith is a "long timer" when he's only been our manager for 2 and a bit years!

So long, Frank Lampard's Chelsea.

Spoilered because large but he was the worst Abramovich-appointed Chelsea manager on a points-per-game basis:

I will say for Lampard he has a weaker squad than most of the managers on that list because of the transfer ban. That said, they were definitely going backwards.

I thought that was on the short side but I'd totally forgotten about Owen Coyle.

Look at how many games those managers got! 7 managers who had less than a season's worth of games! :fp:

It's crazy that Di Matteo got less than half the number of games Lampard did yet won a FA Cup and Champions League double.

the squad had some strong characters but its still amazing that a team with Bosingwa, Bertrand, Kalou beat Bayern

I actually feel sorry for lampard. Look at the difference between how he's been treated compared to Ole at United.

Yeah if only he'd been given over £200m to spend in a single window and had endless backing from the English press, just like... Ole... no wait that's not right.

I was solely talking about time to do what they want to do with a team.

I have no idea how much either has spent, but they've both been allowed to spend and bring in big signings. Time is the big difference.

Probably more that Woodward doesn't even want to sit a manager was a failure and pay the extra money to find a decent replacement.

That said, you can never tell what's happening behind the scenes. And it sounds like things were already deteriorating beyond repair prior to this.

It's Chelsea, it's what they do... he can still find a career in management going forward.

This will come as little consolation to Villa fans, but football's authorities have said Bernardo Silva's opener for Manchester City in their 2-0 win last week should not have stood.

At the time, by the letter of the law, the goal was legitimate, because Tyrone Mings played the ball deliberately and so the offside player - Rodri - is deemed not to have gained an advantage.

But referees group the Professional Game Match Officials Limited, rulemakers the International Football Association Board, and European governing body Uefa have since offered clarification on how such an incident should be interpreted in the future.

"Where a player in an offside position immediately impacts on an opponent who has deliberately played the ball, the match officials should prioritise challenging an opponent for the ball, and thus the offside offence of 'interfering with an opponent by impacting on the opponent's ability to play the ball' should be penalised."

The statement from the Premier League added: "Accordingly, if a similar situation to the one involving Rodri's impact on Mings occurred in a future match, then the impact would be penalised for offside."
