Maddison is a great talent, no dig at Leicester, but surrounded with a higher quality team he'd perform even better I think.

I think Arsenal are in trouble, They've been out of it for nearly too long and I think they know this, that's why there's a splurge to try and sign decent players another season or 2 and they won't be considered a big team ( For transfers )

Rafa going to Everton is causing all kinds of drama with my Evertonian friends. I've no issue with it, loves the city and wants to be with his family.

Never thought I’d say it but you could argue that going to Arsenal from Leicester is a backwards step. Their other transfer targets don’t inspire much confidence, either. Arteta out!

I think it's a good move for him personally as he lives in the area, but in my experience hiring personnel from "the other side" doesn't end well. I still remember Owen Coyle essentially getting us relegated from the Championship. :slol:

The problem for Rafa will be that Everton are in a tight spot in the Financial Fair Play stakes where they can't really spend that much more (they have a FAR higher net spend than Klopp since he joined Liverpool for example - £-119.73m v £-255.70m)

If they get rid of a few they might generate the money but they have such a sh*t team It's going to be hard for any manager.

"such a gooseberry fool team" is a bit harsh!

The first 11 is pretty good, we just don't have a lot of depth when it comes to creative/wide players. Despite me being gutted at Ancelotti leaving he really ultimately should have done better than last season.

Puting aside his Liverpool connections I think hell be a decent appointment. At least he's won things.

As for the financial side of things, despite all the money we've wasted the last few years apparently there is still going to be a decent amount to spend. Another load of out of contract deadwood is leaving so the wage bill is going down further and we're likely to sell Moise Kean for a fair bit.

Not meaning to sound harsh just echo-ing my 2 (everton supporter) mates. That said, I don't think your first 11 is 'pretty good' at all tbh... I think this is where Rafa will find it hard because some fans think it's a decent team when at this moment it's not really.

Reminds me of when Arsenal fans still thought they had a good team despite being awful. They used to talk about Xhaka was the second coming and he was dogshit THROUGHOUT his time at Arsenal, Bellerin the same now Tierney is better than Robertson....it happens over and over... Auba was better than Salah too... :fp:

There's a good group of

Digne
Godfrey
Allan
Doucoure
Richarlison
DCL

Pickford actually had a solid second half of the season. Keane and Mina were also OK. Coleman is always solid and still has some very good games just can't be relied upon all season. Not being able to score at home cost us not the defence.

Assuming Rodriguez stays and keeps fit (which seems unlikely at this point) a 4231 with a new right side should have a good chance of qualifying for Europe. (when I say pretty good I'm going from that level of expectation)

Digne - has had a poor season but only going by his own standards
Godfrey - promising talent
Allan - Essential midfielder
Doucoure - excellent too
Richarlison - 7 goals in the prem is simply not good enough.
DCL - good striker, crazy leap on him

I've no problem with Pickford, he had a decent season. So that's 6 of the 11 that are going from promising to excellent. I don't think Rodriguez does enough sometimes plus he'll never stay fit and lord knows I strawberry floating love Coleman but he's past it. Mina is good but with Keane it doesn't seem to work as a partnership... I think you need 2-3 players for a European place....

If you could get him I reckon Graham Potter would be a good manager for Everton.

Also I WANT Everton to do well, I'd far rather Everton in top 6 than Landan Taaan clubs or Manu.

Who's Manu? Is he an upgrade for Kanu?

Think the issue with Everton is that they are no longer best of the rest. Outside the Greedy 6, there's obviously Leicester, a free spending Villa (let's see what happens re Grealish), a resurgent West Ham, and a Leeds team which looks like it'll be competitive for a while. I think there's far more competition than when Everton were continuously finishing 5th.

Arsenal without European football still have massive commercial revenue, but will the big sponsors want to stay with a declining team on the pitch?

Firmino only got 9 and he plays down the middle, whereas Richarlison is often out wide.

7 assists too and bobby isn't a striker, not really.

Salah is often out wide....

Perhaps, yeah. But they’re not a gooseberry fool team, objectively untrue, if league position is anything to go by. Which it usually is.

You know I'm a Liverpool supporter right? They only other team I watch a lot is Everton.

Everton had a crazy number of away wins last season...if they can turn that home form around with crowds...
